MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, Michael Savage Among Top Spots On List Of Most Important Talk Radio Hosts

Talkers magazine has released their “Heavy Hundred” list of the most important talk radio hosts in America. MSNBC’s Ed Schultz made the number four spot, with Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage ranked first through third, respectively.

Talkers is a trade publication that serves the talk radio industry. The magazine admits the annual list is subjective, with selection factors including courage, effort, impact, longevity, potential, ratings, recognition, revenue, service, talent and uniqueness.

Schultz was recognized for his “conversion from conservative to progressive,” which is documented in his show “through a series of personal experiences.” The list also commended Savage’s “acerbic goulash of political ideology, comedy and advice” — and noted Hannity’s position as a “conservative talk media icon.” Limbaugh nabbed the top spot for a show that has “unsurpassed success” through his “unique insight into current events” and “profound element of showmanship.”
