 Rick Sanchez of CNN is one bizarre character. He talks to the audience like they’re mentally disabled (though it is CNN, so perhaps this is forgivable) and he has this annoying habit of narrating what he’s going to do on the show: “Coming up, I’m going to show you a picture of the BP oil well. You will see oil seeping from the well; it will frighten you; it will be awe-inspiring. Producer Joe, why don’t you bring up that picture on the screen for my audience.” Hey, Rick, just show the damn picture.

Beyond his amateur news delivery, Sanchez is a liberal who is notorious for presenting half-truths and innuendo to his (meager) audience. In an effort to demonize Republicans last month, Sanchez tried to tie big oil to the GOP—but, of course, he omitted the fact that President Obama in 2008 received mega-bucks from BP. 

And who could forget Sanchez’s attack on Latinos who work at Fox News. On his Twitter account, Sanchez wrote: “do u know how much money i’d make if i’d sold out as hispanic and worked at fox news, r u kidding, one problem, looking in mirror. if i didn’t believe in doing right thing, i’d be rich anchoring at fox news.” 

The implication, of course, is that Latinos who work for the evil conservative Fox News are sell outs. Do you trust a man who thinks like this to accurately analyze the stories of the day?

Hard for anyone to dispute this detail. After all, did we not recently see Sanchez on camera marvelling that a volcano could actually be active in a location where it is very cold? This is the same guy who asked someone, “Nine meters in English is how much?” He is incapable of learning, as here in Florida we enjoyed his hurricane coverage years back, with him repeatedly referring to the storm as an “earthquake”. Not a mental titan.

Come on, Glenn. As long as Olbermann is out there, Sanchez can never claim the number one title alone.

“Take a look at this” means you can skip through to the next segment because he is going to repeat what he has repeated 10 times before. I thought it was just me, that he was a bit of a jerk and now his 8pm show is just a repeat of his daytime show which is repeated over and over making the 2 hrs about 40 minutes.
It seems the way they have the studio setup anytime a guest or “great reporters” get interviewed it’s like they are reporting to the principals office standing in front of his throne.

This whole beef started when jaw dropping hypocrite Sanchez disgracefully accused Beck of murder when some nut with a history of mental problems and in a fight with his mother attacked some cops. Beck, very rightly fired back that that it was Sanchez who had literally killed someone when he struck him with his car. But, it gets better. Sanchez, more concerned with his career, then sped away and left the poor man crippled with injuries in the street. Sanchez went home and then, probably on advice of an attorney, after 2 hours, went back to the scene and said that he had had a few drinks to unwind after he fled the scene. This, of course, is the always bs excuse for people who were drinking before an accident. ‘See officer, um, I needed a few shots to calm down after the crash. Please don’t think I was drinking before. Oh heavens no!’.

Anyway, pig Sanchez was convicted DUI. The poor man, his injuries left him severely disabled-paralyzed and suffering brain damage. A young healthy man in his early 30′s was now incapable of caring for himself, bedridden, would languish in a nursing home for a few years before finally dying from his injuries. Sanchez never visited the man or offered to help with his huge medical bills…and the man wasn’t rich, he was blue collar. That, ladies and gentlemen, is all you need to know about Rick Sanchez. Well, that and that he’s a moron…volcanoes, geography, 5th grade science. I’m no Beck fan, but in the ongoing Rick/Beck feud, Beck is right. In spades.

I don’t watch either but I do get a snippet of each occasionally before I can get to the remote. The real dummy is CNN for hiring and retaining Sanchez. He is disgustingly boring and an embarrassment to television news. He talks about how much more money he could make at Fox News which is probably true but I have not read about Fox jumping through hoops to hire him.

Apparently Beck wants to be an entertainer rather than a pundit. He is not very good at either but apparently millions love him as his ratings are high. The few times I have seen him, I want to throw something at that red telephone and that infamous blackboard. He is an actor of sorts and he fools a lot of people.

If you want to listen to a REAL NEWS MAN, stick with Shepard Smith.

But, I have yet to see any real facts to dispute Beck and MediaMatters does not count…they’re not just left, they fell of the edge of their flat earth a long time ago. Does Beck make mistakes? Do any of you. What’s that saying: he who is without sin, cast the first stone! Yeah…I thought so!

Like the old saying goes, you can always measure your success by the number of enemies you have accumulated. Looks like Beck is pretty damn successful. You see, whatever you may think of the guy, he is effective. If he was a true buffoon, then this conversation would not be happening. He has already outed himself on all the vices that people would take him to task over if he had tried to hide it. No he is not educated, and he has said as much, what he has said is that he is self-educatng. This means he is going to stumble, a lot. Of course looking at what is passing for history course work in today’s classrooms, you have to self-educate. Frankly, I have read some history texts that my professors would have failed the writers because of their lack of proper citing of primary and secondary sources. I have a degree in International Relations, so I understand the psychology of influencing a nation and its population, especially your own population.

By his own words, Beck has called himself a rodeo clown. He states clearly that it is his opinion and to never ever take his word for anything. So I don’t. Of course I don’t take anyone’s word for it, especially from those who are in power. I have watched Presidents on both sides lie and distort, their lackeys “spinning” (insert lie) the truth to make it fit their agenda. I watched George H Bush take a deadline to talk from the 15th of Dec. to Jan. 15 and warp it into 15 different dates right before the peoples eyes, and CNN ran with it. Now I am watching this President blaming republicans for the economy while stating his is the one true way. Forget that they have had control back for four years, not two. Not that the elephants were that hot either. But since our press likes the current C&C, he is getting a pass except from people like Beck. If the attacks were so baseless, the White House would be able to counter better.

Yes, some of what Beck says will make your heart stop, then again some of what Olbermann, Mathews, Schultz, and Maddow says makes me want to throw up, but I keep watching. So take your pick or better yet actually watch and read both sides and then decide. When it hits your own sensibilities, stop and analyze before making a conclusion. Ask yourself if you were just as rabid in your attacks of the other guys President or Representative or Dog Catcher as they were on yours. If you answer yes, then you might want to stop, take the blinders off, and begin to really question everything. This is all a dog and pony show kids, its time to really get behind the curtain.

You really have to do better than that. How’s the Van Jones boycott plan going? Beck out of business yet? Has the red phone tied to the White House rung yet? Why don’t they call?

Did the boycott activists learn technique from Obama back when he was a Community Organizer? Was that during Obama’s time teaching at ACORN? If not, where did Van Jones learn it and from whom?

If CNN showed the video and audio of Obama that Glenn has shown, would you support a boycott of CNN? If so, why? What if MSNBC showed the network of corruption between Government and Big Business. Boycott them too? How about the racism and injustice created by the collusion between Government, Commerce, Religion, and Science? Boycott anyone that speaks of it?

Is a boycott to silence free speech an American ideal?

About the popularity of people who spread fear and suspicion…Folie à deux (it means “a madness shared by two”). It’s a psychiatric syndrome in which delusional beliefs are transmitted from one individual to another. For more than two people its called folie à trois, folie à quatre, folie en famille or even folie à plusieurs (“madness of many”). The current classifications refer to it as a syndrome “dependency psychotic disorder” and/or “induced delusional disorder.” I don’t think Beck is necessarily psychotic (because I don’t believe he actually believes half the things he says), but he promotes this dynamic in others who may be living in isolation, have a baseline for increased paranoid response, or are just simply bored and don’t have enough to think about. The fact that Beck profited from gold sales promoted by his program and based in people’s insecurities and fears during an economically unstable period, may be the best indicator of where his priorities actually lie. It’s very similar to the overwhelming terror people experienced when Orson Welles presented “War of the Worlds” on radio many years ago. He didn’t bother to let his audience know he was only acting. Which might be the ethical thing for Glen to do.

Sanchez allowed himself to be tasered so we’ll leave questions of his intellect at that. But I must say…it is true. Glenn Beck is truly a genius. Anybody who can get so many people suckered into his hyperbole and BS the way he has many of the posters here deserves some credit.

I can’t resist, I must make a comment on CNN’S choices, I mean when they got rid of Lou Dobbs, that was their first mistake (he wouldn’t say what they TOLD him to say) Now, we have Sanchez (who suddenly decided to announce CONTINUOUSLY that he is of Spanish parents, he only recently has started to play spanish music on his show, to announce to the world that he is a “regular guy” well, my opinion of him is he should try out for sports announcing since he has no class, is extremely rough around the edges, has a crush on himself & if he gets any closer to the TV monitor, he will pop out of my TV. Then there is pasty face John Roberts, you know the look, the deer in the headlights, he never blinks, has a semi frozen smile on his face, shows absolutely NO EMOTION and….is he really a journalist or a plastic figure of one? Where are they getting these men? What happened to real guys like Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, you know, the men who cared about the news and not…..themselves!

Kuddos to Rick Sanchez. He is the only one at CNN to call out Glenn Beck and Fix News for what they are.

TC sorry I don’t quite get your meaning… just got back from a concert … a little slow and tired.

Because it’s usually taken out of context or Beck purposed distorts or lends his simplistic understanding to what Obama says. For example, our Constitution is comprised of negative liberties. That’s a fact, but Beck turns the phrase “negative liberties” into something negative.

Obama was the president of the Harvard Constitutional Review (I believe it’s called). Beck on the other hand thinks that the Constitution is supported by faith, hope and charity. Obama has knowledge; Beck has his dumb beliefs. Beck uses truthiness to describe reality, what’s in his reactionary gut.

Obama has knowledge of all fifty seven states.

Sanchez’ stupidity or lack of common sense is obvious when he talks about how much money he could make at Fox. Fox executives are much too knowledgeable and smart to even think of hiring Sanchez. Maybe CNN could improve its ratings if it fired Sanchez and replaced him with an experienced newsman.
