Herman Cain Loses Temper With Reporter Regarding His Past Muslim Comments

Video

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain appeals to many voters because he appears “real” and not like a traditional politician. Yet is yelling at a reporter for asking a question you don’t want to answer being just a bit too real, or could that be the type of no-nonsense attitude people might be looking for this time around?

When a reporter asked Cain about his hesitancy to employ Muslims in his cabinet, Cain clearly agitated, with his voice rising, said:

“If you’re trying to make me lose my cool, you’re almost succeeding. . . . I never said I would use any special precautions.”

Almost immediately Cain realized such a stern tone was not appealing and he quickly said, “It probably wasn’t politically correct to raise my voice, but you know what’s resonating with the American people? I’m going to be myself.” The fact that he then apologized to the reporter he yelled at, clearly suggested Cain regretted raising his voice. Yet ultimately such unscripted moments often reveal a lot about candidates and for better or worse, Cain has now got one on tape for voters to judge.

Watch the clip below of Cain losing his cool:

Way to go Herman. You have showed us you are human. No scripts, no teleprompter…just straight from the heart.

Never apologize Herman, the right wingnuts see that as weakness.

    The pizza is done.

I tired of Herman Cain’s Muslims stereotypes.

Almost as much as Godfather’s Pizza’s Italian stereotypes.

Herman Cain should not be underestimated. He’s got a strong following from the Tea Party, as well as the legion of supporters of the FairTax.

Herman is NOT afraid to speak his mind. Isn’t it refreshing to hear a politician who’s NOT politically correct?

Matt, how can you infer that you know what Herman was thinking? You don’t know him at all, or you wouldn’t make that assumption. Herman doesn’t regret any of his words and that’s one thing people are going to come to understand about him. He apologized, but he truly was distressed by the reporter’s misrepresentation of what he said.

Cain has to understand one thing. The leftist media will never allow a Conservative Black man to be a successful political leader. Allowing that to happen would destroy the leftist media’s ability to you race as a weapon against Conservatives. So he has to know that he has a giant target on his back.
No one in the leftist media ever challenged Obama in the way Cain was challenged by that “reporter”, and they still haven’t.

  • m_mayhem

It’s funny to see Uncle Ruckus get agitated and fly off the handle but he is correct because he probably never said he would use special precautions when hiring a muslim. He just flat out said he wouldn’t hire them at all, In his eyes if they’re muslim they are not to be trusted regardless of qualifications or background. The reporter made the mistake of giving Ruckus too much credit by assuming he would even consider giving a qualified muslim a candidate a spot in his fantasy administration.

I admit, I didn’t believe for a LONG time that she used one, what with her illiteracy and all. But I figure hers uses some flippin’ cool blend of phonetics and pictures so she can stay on script.

Why does the media keep treating him like a viable candidate?

Well, I guess he does keep providing them page hits with his awkward exchanges and the stupid things he keeps saying.

Oxy, I don’t understand the thumbs down you’ve gotten for your statement of fact, but “never” is a very long time. Maybe it’s time We the People got wise to how the media has been playing us. I thought they would have wised up after McCain was “given” the nomination (ostensiibly because it was–as in the case of Bob Dole “his turn”) but sadly, not enough of us have realized how we’ve been played. If you have any doubts, think about this:

During the Republican debates of 2008, which candidates got all the questions while others were ignored? It’s ALL about “face time.” The media (and probably at the direction of the RNC) ignored Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo, Fred Thompson, and others, giving the lion’s share of exposure to the RNC’s choice. Now, as the 2012 cycle approaches, we’re seeing the very same thing happen again–Romney is getting the attention and it is Romney whom the RNC wants to receive the nomination. We will end up with yet another RINO on the ticket unless we make it known that we’re not buying it this time.

Cain has to understand the republicans will never allow a black man to be a successful political leader. Micheal Steele was the head of the RNC as a counter to President Obama and actually led the cons to taking back the house of reps but what did that get him? It got him tossed out on his ass. “Good job boy making us look not racist, now get the hell out of the way, we’re taking back our party.”

Yes, because the rightwing media would very much so allow a liberal black man to be a successful political leader! Such stupidity ought not to be uttered in public. What is that Rush said about Obama not even one month after he was in office? I WANT HIM TO FAIL. Case closed….hypocrite!

Really, I thought President Obama was elected with the support of both the Klan (the late Robert Byrd) and murderers (the later Edward Kennedy).

I really like Herman Cain, and quite honestly, don’t care about ‘political correctness’.
We are in wars with 3 Muslim countries ‘at the moment’, and we need to be cautious. I believe Muslims in this country, are treated with the same respect as everyone else.
    This a ‘fake’ controversy.

You really oversimplify things a bit too much. I supported Steele, but many people in the Republican establishment didn’t like the way Steele mismanaged money and his penchant for being gaffe prone and straying off message. Those were the gripes against him, not his race.

Many people — you apparently not among them — have learned to observe their fellow humans and make assessments of motivation based on their behaviors. It’s not 100%, but a skilled observer can get pretty close to the truth.

Cain also made it pretty clear that he regretted what he’d said (or at least the way he said it).

Question: You *do* know Herman Cain well enough to be sure that someone else’s assessment is wrong? You’re good buds? I have my doubts.

I have to agree. Steele is a pretty smart cookie, but he’s unserious and not a very good administrator — which is key to the job. I don’t think his skin color (clearly a nice-to-have for Republicans’ credibility) was a very big factor.

Mr. Cain strikes me as the GOP version of Howard Dean.

A tough, no nonsense, angry, outspoken, passionate ideologue who often comes across as possibly being on the verge of being out of control.
