Oscars 2010, The Longest Show On Earth: Highlights Edition

Did you make it all the way to the end of last night’s marathon Oscar broadcast? It wasn’t the longest one in history – that was 2002 — but boy did it ever feel like it. Between Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin’s Catskill-esque opener, a number of extra longs montages, an even longer dance number, and this new thing they are doing when five actors laud their five best actor counterparts…well you’d be forgiven for not making it to the end. It was a good end however, Kathryn Bigelow made Oscar history by becoming the first woman to win for Best Director, and Sandra Bullock’s speech was utterly charming and down to earth: “Did I really deserve this or did I just wear you down?” Just before the clock struck midnight Hurt Locker walked away with the top prize.

In case you missed any of it — the red carpet fashions, the tears, or even the dolphins — you can find all of Mediaite’s coverage and videos here….without the boring parts. And yes, the dude abides.

Sorry, just didn’t feel the need to watch another 4 hour meeting and praise-a-thon of the DNC.

You would have been disappointed then. The show was deathly dull, but it was apolitical. Aside from thoughts, wishes and prayers for troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and throughout the world and First Responders, I didn’t see any fealty for the DNC or any political figure or ideology. I suppose it is unfortunate that your own political ideology cuts you off from some much interesting, rewarding and wonderful in the world, but it is essentially a highly negative, reactive ideology, I suppose.

The Real Racist King, Sorry but no one appeared last night worthy of my respect nor my hard earned $$$. Much for the same reason I don’t watch baseball, or the NBA anymore. The “medium” is populated by liars, thieves, blowhards, and all around over compensated pompous asses whose ideals represent nothing even remotely close to what I believe in.

Grossly overpaid celebrities performing their own circle jerk may be entertainment to you, not me.

So, I take it, in light of Ms. Bigelow’s speech last night, about the troops and first responders, and Mr. Bridges’ tribute to his parents, and Ms. Bullock’s to her mother and to those who take care of children, you do not support the troops, the first responders, families or children? Wow! I always thought you one of the more compassionate conservatives.

  • timzank

Nope, I’m just like you, I don’t care what sincere remarks were made by a handful of people in that crowd because I hate the whole group, just like you and the tea party folks, see?

  • timzank

    Wow, crickets from TRRK?

    chirp chirp
