Predominantly Hispanic High School Graffitied With Trump’s Name on Cinco de Mayo

A predominantly Hispanic high school in Los Banos, California, was vandalized the evening before Cinco de Mayo. Surveillance video appears to show that it likely was students in masks who committed the crime. School administrators do not know if the vandalism was a prank or something more malicious, but Donald Trump‘s name was scrawled across lockers and “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN” was tagged on the side of the gym. The graffiti also included references to building a wall.

Parents, however, seem to think that the graffiti was racially motivated.

According to ABC 30, Joaquin Cortez, a parent, said, “This is how it starts. This is nothing but negative stuff promoted by Trump. It’s gonna insult or people are gonna get offended by it. Honestly, it’s just a bad day.”

Some kids reportedly feel unnerved, too.

Assistant Superintendent Paul Enos did not comment on what motivation the students who did this might have had, but he did say, “This is not something the kids normally do.”

This year, at the very least, it appears to be something students are definitely doing.
