Sen. Chris Murphy Criticized For Demanding Tech Companies To Ban Other Sites Besides InfoWars

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) received some backlash Monday night after he weighed in on the recent banishment of Alex Jones and InfoWars from various platforms.
Murphy took to Twitter to express his overall dissatisfaction with tech giants over their handling of those who spread “hate and lies” on their services.
I know Facebook and Apple and YouTube have gotten so big they sometimes seem like the government.
But they aren’t.
They are private companies that shouldn’t knowingly spread lies and hate. They took a good first step today by removing Infowars.

He called InfoWars the “tip of a giant iceberg of hate and lies” and that these companies “must do more” than just take down that site since “the survival of our democracy depends on it.”
Infowars is the tip of a giant iceberg of hate and lies that uses sites like Facebook and YouTube to tear our nation apart. These companies must do more than take down one website. The survival of our democracy depends on it.

Such a demand was widely criticized by Conservative Twitter.
Or what? You’re a governmental official and there is a thing called the First Amendment. https://t.co/29VarsHfM0

Old and busted: Congress shall make no law…
New hotness: You better ban these websites, or else…https://t.co/kAK9pjYMH2— Sean Davis (@seanmdav) August 7, 2018
In a development that will not shock anyone, he wants you to not have guns or ammunition.
Buy guns and ammunition in case people like him ever gain power, because they’re already telling you what they intend to do. https://t.co/xwemuFyHic

“These companies must do more than take down one website.”
By all means, Senator, please provide the American people with the list of sites you believe tech companies ***must*** take down.
This shit here is why I believe Alex Jones is a lying douche ***and*** censorship is bad. https://t.co/kCw0UlVhok
