Time Spent Online Nearly Doubled This Decade
How did people act during The Aughts? Well, they were snarky. Sometimes dead? And gay! But almost all of it happened online, according to a Harris Interactive poll which put weekly internet usage at a whopping 13 hours in 2009. That’s almost twice as many hours as in the year 2000, which was already a lot of hours. It’s because of the blogs. Or Facebook?
People between the ages of 30 and 39 spend the most time on the Internet — 18 hours a week, the research firm said in a press release this week. I bet those numbers are going to be higher for folks below 21, considering that many have grown up using broadband. As I showed yesterday, the number of U.S. broadband users has gone up to around 80 million from about 2.7 million at the end of 1999.
