Poll: Public Five Times More Likely To Forgive Tiger Than John Edwards
poll According to this month's CBS/Vanity Fair poll 22% of those asked would be willing to forgive Tiger Woods his bad behavior (no word on whether Elin was one of the polled). This may seem like a low number, but Tiger should perhaps breathe a sigh of relief: he polls well compared to, say, John Edwards who only got five percent of the forgiveness vote. Edwards meanwhile can take some itty bitty tiny comfort in the fact that he is more forgivable than both Roman Polanski and Chris Brown. Yes, very small comfort. Eternal bad boy Charlie Sheen falls somewhere in the middle at 12%. (more...)
Roman Polanski’s $4.5 Million Bail Puts Him Under “Chalet” Arrest In Swiss Alps
That's right -- no more cell for Mr. Roman Polanski. The 76-year-old director, under arrest for the 1977 rape of a 13-year-old girl, was granted bail at the equivalent of a $4.5 million in late November and has since relocated to the Swiss Alps to await his fate. His luxurious house arrest -- or "chalet arrest" as CNN dubbed it -- has now begun, and would be the envy of his prison roommates, the below report states obviously, failing to mention that being "confined" to a house in the Alps is what most people call a dream vacation. Politico Lambasted for Inventing Obama/Polanski Link
Politico is taking heat from all over the blogosphere for a story they posted Wednesday that conflated support for convicted rapist Roman Polanski with political donations to President Obama. The splashy headline read "Roman Polanski Backers Gave $34k to Barack Obama, DNC."
(more...)UPDATE: No Pro-Polanski Facebook Vigilante Is Blocking Anti-Polanski Facebook Posts
UPDATED File this under "People Who Think They Are Helping Roman Polanski Really Aren't": At least one pro-Polanski online activist has blocked at least one Facebook user critical of Polanski from posting anything to do with Polanski to her Facebook page. Bi-zarre. (more...)
Roman Polanski Better Hope Cokie Roberts Doesn’t Own A Gun
The Internet is making journalist objectivity tricky business these days! First President Obama was caught on Twitter (and camera) calling Kanye West a jackass, then WaPo issued Twitter guidelines amidst fears that any opinion may inadvertently be expressed, and now Cokie Roberts has been caught on camera advocating the death penalty for Roman Polanski. Why Doesn’t Middle America Trust Hollywood Liberals? Two Words: Roman Polanski
I used to think that when conservatives denounced the so-called "Hollywood liberal elite" as being essentially amoral and out of touch with real Americans, they were being a bit harsh. And when Sarah Palin implied that middle America was somehow more sensibly American than those of us sin-lovin'-anti-religion-anti-America-fancypants-big city folk — I genuinely wondered what gave her (and some of my extended family in Middle America who appear to agree with her) such an idea. How Long Til Glenn Beck Gets On The Polanski Media Wagon And Calls For Eric Holder’s Resignation?
I know. It's a stretch. But that is the first question that jumped into my head when I came across this New York Times article about how Roman Polanski's U.S. legal team has hired lawyer Reid Weingarten, who is "a well-known Washington power player and close friend and associate of Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr." (more...)

Pro-Polanski WaPo Columnist Fails To Disclose Marriage To Polish Diplomat (UPDATED)
In an online column yesterday on the Washington Post's opinion blog, Anne Applebaum voiced her disagreement with the "outrageous arrest of Roman Polanski," who was taken into custody in Saturday night in Switzerland on a U.S. warrant from 1978. Applebaum argues that to put Polanski on trial or to jail him "does not serve society in general or his victim in particular" and wonders if "there must be some deeper story here." (more...)
