Bill Maher Stands By Mohammed Remarks: ‘I Don’t Need To Apologize For Being A Proud Westerner’

video

Bill Maher showed up on CNN to talk about comments he made on Real Time regarding the ‘alarming’ number of ‘baby Mohammeds’ in England. Maher told Wolf Blitzer that he felt no need to “apologize for being a proud Westerner,” or for being worried that “Muslim people in these [Western] societies are having babies” at a faster clip than non-Muslims.

He clarified:

And when I say Westerner, I mean someone who believes in the values that Western people believe in that a lot of the Muslim world does not. Like separation of church and state. Like equality of the sexes. Like respect for minorities, free elections, free speech, freedom to gather. These things are not just different from cultures that don’t have them. … It’s better. … I would like to keep those values here.

Maher feared that “we can project ahead” to the possibility of England “losing those values.” While he and Blitzer didn’t discuss the Sharia law issue that arose Friday night, they did discuss another topic that had come up during the same conversation: whether Maher would’ve been fired from NPR, as Juan Williams had been, if he worked there. “Probably,” Maher said. Here, the two seemed to agree.

Watch the clip from CNN below:

Hey Bill , draw a picture of Mohammed and hold it up to the camera . Just as a test of the Islamic sense of humor .

lol…don’t let Yusuf islam (Cat Stevens) see it..he might make another “joke” about killing someone.

What the hell, are we getting that politically correct that an entertainer is asked if he should apologize for a personal opinion.

It is rare that I agree with Maher, it is more that I just do not find his show entertaining, but, it is his show, it is on cable and he has every right to speak his mind.

It has been reported recently that Muslims will out number Christians. I think when you look at countries overseas, where they are feeling that they are losing their identity, with an influx of Muslim immigrants, that this is just the start of what will be a much larger discussion in the future.

Conservative right wing muslims taking over UK. That is scarier then George Soros. And almost as scary as the tea party.

Good for Bill Maher for saying these things. Next he needs to recognize that our road to our eventual demise is being paved by the secular religion known as multiculturalism. Sam Harris, whom Maher has had on his show and who is also an atheist liberal (as am I) on most social issues is very good on this subject. The trouble in Europe is the leftists who are providing aid and comfort to this wave of muslims. Whenever any movement rears its head to do something to stop this transformation of their liberal secular societies, they are immediately denounced as Nazis and branded unacceptable by any decent standard.

  • Sean68

By the way, as a footnote to this story, Tony Blair sister-in-law has just announced she has converted to islam, and will, as is mandatory under islam, take a muslim man for her husband. Muslim men, on the other hand, can marry any woman he wants.

I’ve been to London a few times, and it might as well be Tehran or Karachi, the Muslim population must be seen to be believed. And, these people have NO interest in assimilating. Multiple attempts at bombings, and a couple successes. But, idiots like the fool that posted before you see no problem with Muslims at all. Al Qaeda is just a little club with a few members, they pose no threat at all. The Tea Party is more dangerous. What an idiot.

Why don’t you and Juan start a group. lol

I guess this means that Maher, too, cannot appear on NPR. This is much worse that what Juan Williams said. He should have to wear a scarlet “R” on his chest from here on.

Actually, one can convert by reciting three times, There is no God but Allah and Muhammed is his Prophet. No need to use your brain at all to become a Muslim, and I speak Arabic, so I know this as a hard fact.

Bill Maher really is a stupid bigot. Separation of church and state in the UK? Ever heard of the Church of England? You know, the church headed up by the Queen -who is also the head of state?

  • Cancon2

Read Londonstan. A clear history and truly scary shit.

Bill is right on this, we should not apologize for our way of life. I still think he was better on Murder she Wrote, but he’s got his schtick now. The fact is that Multicults need to preach and instill the belief that “all” cultures are equal and deserving of equal respect, Lofty shit sure, but anyone with any brain cells left, any frame of reference, any experience whatsoever, will know rather instictively after a very short amount of time, that this is

    “COMPLETE HORSESHIT!”

I remember the protests held by muslims over the mohammed cartoon controversy. These guys were basically advocating, in the heart of London, everything from the rape of non-muslim women to the violent overthrow of the government and replacing it with an islamic state, and the police were arresting people who were angry at the muslim protesters. I remember thinking at the time, does a society that holds its own values in such contempt deserve to continue?

The Queen is indeed the head of state, even if ceremonial, of the UK, Canada and Australia (among others). The Prime Ministers of those countries are known as the head of government.

Ridiculously minor point of contention, but you brought it up… “Einstein”.

    Absolutely correct.

When the President walks into a room, everyone stands up. When the Queen walks in everyone stands up. When the PM walks in, everyone remains seated. Why? The first two are heads of state. The PM is the political leader, only.

I haven’t noticed much racism, though it’s possible something might have slipped past. And it’s entirely possible that your threshhold for calling a statement racist is lower than mine. It’s not xenophobic to point out that muslims might have ideas they derived from the koran, and if one considers the ideas in the koran detrimental to Western civilization’s highest ideals, then that’s no more xenophobic than not liking nazis for sharing the views espoused by hitler in mein kampf.

    Mr. Real Royal King:

I have not posted on Mediaite until recently so I cannot speak to your current post and the people you mentioned, however, I am of the belief that we must have an open discussions. My frustration with the Muslim faith, that until recently moderate Muslims haven’t spoken strongly against the extremist, my husband is a Catholic, he speaks strongly that jail, consequences etc must be expressed with regard to child abusers in his church. He also was most critical of the leadership. Perhaps not best comparison but if you are part of a group that breaks the law or worse, the leadership should condemn and offer solutions if possible.

Islam is the only religion whose founding figures went around committing massacres, conquests, hegemonisation, forced conversions (of Zoroastrians & pagans), and making those of other religions 2nd-class citizens. Because of that, Muslim “radicals” dominate Islam even in the West (http://intelligencesquaredus.org/index.php/past-debates/islam-is-dominated-by-radicals/). All other religions can say to the extremists in their midst “How can that extremism be ok when our founding figures didn’t do that?” But moderate Muslims can’t say that, b/c Islam’s founding figures DID do those horrible things.

Joy & Bill (their last names are almost synonomous),are by far, two of the sleaziest liberats evolution has conjured up. While Billy is a brainy bastard, and Joy nearly brainless, they both speak in waves of comedic degeneracy. That said, I agree with Billy’s assessment. However, his fear of muslims, precludes him from expressing his real sentiments…they should be neutralized. Any religious zealot, regardless of affiliation, is a potential threat to civilization. They are compliant, hapless, psychologically corroded, inept, delusional creatures of whim. Jim Jones, classically demonstrated their vulnerabilities, and jihadists have it down to a science. Heck, look at the electorate in America, to get a glimpse at how these clever Pied Pipers can transform the gullible into spontaneous robots. If Obama, addressed the country today, and encouraged the population to kill their first born…how high do you think the casualties would be? Until we recognize our enemies for what they are, and dispatch them aggressively, we will remain targets of opportunity and pleasure.
