Dan Abrams On IMF Chief’s Attempted Rape Charge: Defense Likely To Focus On Consent
The saga with International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn and his sexual assault charges continues as first he was denied bail and now his defense team begins crafting their arguments. ABC News legal analyst (and Mediaite founder) Dan Abrams appeared on GMA to share some information regarding what the defense strategy might be.
Abrams reports that defense sources suggest their argument will be one that “focuses on some level of consent.” They are likely to concede something happened in that hotel room, but will argue “it was not criminal, it was not forced.” Robin Roberts was not shocked that Strauss-Kahn was denied bail and was deemed to be a flight risk. Yet Abrams stated it’s usually not sufficient to deny someone bail simply because they might flee, and that the defense will still argue Strauss-Kahn did not immediately try to leave the country after the incident initially occurred.
