David Axelrod Assesses Palin 2012: “Being Sarah Palin Seems Like A Pretty Good Gig”

Does David Axelrod think Sarah Palin‘s going to run in 2012? Perhaps, but only if she decides being president would be better than the “good gig” she has “being Sarah Palin.”

Axelrod, one of the architects of Barack Obama‘s victory in 2008, sat down for an interview with CNN’s John King, who asked about a possible Palin run for the GOP nomination. The answer was perfectly politically noncommittal:

“I don’t know. She seems to be enjoying being Sarah Palin. Being Sarah Palin seems like a pretty good gig. Whether she wants to give that up to be a candidate is something I can’t answer.”

Axelrod, as The Hill notes, made a similar observation about Palin in a recent interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum:

MACCALLUM: What about Sarah Palin?

AXELROD: She’s an interesting person. I know she has a robust broadcast career at Fox, and I don’t know if she’s going to want to give that up.

Palin to make rare foreign trip to India

Palin will deliver a keynote dinner address on March 19 in New Delhi entitled, “My Vision of America,” the schedule said.

The magazine seeks prominent speakers each year for the event. Other invited speakers include feminist writer Germaine Greer, Egyptian opposition figure Mohamed ElBaradei, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and hardline Kashmiri separatist Syed Ali Geelani.

I have a begrudging like for Axlerod, and have had since the Fox piece on his disabled daughter and he and his wife’s love for her and thier struggle to deal with her severe epilepsy. It makes you realize that peaople are very human regardless of their politics.

As far as Palin goes – she’ll run, and she’ll win.

By the time the primaries roll around the media will have fired everything they have at her and looked at every aspect of her life. They won’t be able to come up with an October surprise.

Get used to the idea, lefties.

I hope she runs, it was a lot of fun watching her lose the 2008 elections.

You know Axelrod, Plouffe, and staff are going to have such an easier time in 2012 than they had experienced in 2008. No serious primary which usually weakens the victor. The Republican field is very weak probably the poorest field since 1996 when Dole won. Oh yeah. There’s a legitimate reason why Jeb is passing on 2012 for 2016. He knows that Obama is a formidable candidate. Would you want to run against a candidate with a 50% approval rating despite an unemployment rate just shy of 10%? Yikes!! Just imagine if the economy seriously turns around by November 2012. Unless Republicans get a real candidate not Gingrich, Palin, or even Romney although he is a bit more palatable to the broader electorate this is going to be a bigger defeat for the GOP than 2008.

I hope you are right. I think it would be a tight race today but in two years with gas prices going up and Obamas wimpy approach to serious matters I think we will be able to run anyone we feel like and they will win. I think they are very surprised the public did not get behind the protesters in WI like they thought they would. They really didn’t expect the election to go the way it did in 2010 either. Even if they manage to keep Obama though it looks like a landslide in the house and senate at this point and Obama will have no teeth.

I don’t think Palin will run she has too much fun cheerleading but she doesn’t like governing. I think that a lot of Republicans will basically by pass 2012 and focus their attention on 2016

    (March 19, 2011)

Randy Strasser, mayor of Delphi, Indiana got an unexpected visit from former reality TV star and half-term governor Sarah Palin today…

And worshipped by mega-millions of appropriately educated Murcuhn patriots too.

Palin won’t run. She’ll flirt with the press and tease her fans through 2011, then take a pass. She couldn’t handle the pressure of being Gov. Someone will have to tell her you can’t walk away from the Oval Office. By then there will be at least two, maybe more, books from her former staff. If she got the nomination, she might well lose 50 states. And, most important, SHE KNOWS ALL THIS! She’ll make a ton of money and laugh her way to the bank.
