Fox & Friends is Ready For Trump’s Fake News Awards: ‘I’ll Make the Popcorn!’
The media at large seems fairly unsure whether to respond to President Donald Trump’s proposed “FAKE NEWS AWARDS” with horror or mockery. Over at Fox & Friends, the response is excitement.
Trump first announced he would be handing out awards to “THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA” in early January, but he was forced to reschedule the very important and definitely-happening award ceremony for unknown reasons.
Well, in his tweet he said the awards are supposed to take place today, though he has made no mention of them since — as his administration finds itself crawling out of a gaping shithole of controversy.
That did not deter the residents of the Fox & Friends curvy-couch, who made brief mention of Trump’s awards on Wednesday morning.
After a segment featuring an axe-less Pete Hegseth talking to Trump voters in a diner (they told him they think polls on Trump’s approval rating are “fake news”), Brian Kilmeade segued seamlessly into a discussion of the upcoming awards.
“And by the way Fake News Awards are tonight,” Kilmeade said. “Do we have an outfit picked out, have we rented a tux?”
“I wonder if there’s gonna be trophies?” Steve Doocy speculated.
“I’ll make the popcorn!” Ainsley Earhardt exclaimed.
“If you’re not going to be watching tonight we’ll have the winners — or losers — tomorrow on the show,” Doocy concluded.
And it appears the Fox & Friends A-team aren’t the only ones excited for the awards. Fox & Friends First host Heather Childers tweeted about them with a degree of palpable glee that probably shouldn’t accompany awards that celebrate the desecration of one’s own industry:
Tomorrow is the day! Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards supposed to be announced by @POTUS! Who do you think made the list? @KristinBTate joins us in the 4am hour of @FoxFriendsFirst to discuss! 4-5sm ET on @FoxNews
