Fox News To Host First Republican Primary Debate In Iowa
The first Republican presidential debate in Iowa will take place on August 11th and air on the Fox News Channel. The Iowa Republican Party Ames Straw Poll will take place just two days after the debate, therefore a good showing in this important debate has the potential to significantly propel any candidate towards winning support with Iowan voters.
Fox News Senior Vice President of News Michael Clemente said, “FOX News is proud to partner with The Washington Examiner and the Iowa GOP to kick off the 2012 election season and provide viewers the most thorough coverage of this important debate.” In the first Republican debate of the primary season (pictured), which also appeared on Fox News, many prominent candidates had not yet officially declared their candidacy. By August however, most serious candidates should be official, and the real games will be underway.
