ratings

Cable news ratings, September 10, 2009: Check out the highlights, and see the full ratings below:

Glenn Beck had 958,000 viewers in the A25-54 demographic. That’s huge – for a 5pmET show, it’s practically unheard of. Bill O’Reilly‘s best night of 2009 in the demo was 1,101,000. This was the top demo show of the night.

• The top program in total viewers was once again The O’Reilly Factor. Beck finished in 2nd place. According to TVNewser, it was Beck’s top total viewer rating ever. His demo rating was his 2nd best ever.

• The top non-FNC show of the night was MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann, which saw a huge night. No CNN program reached more than 1 million total viewers.

And the CENSUS bureau just announced they have SEVERED all ties to ACORN!

    LOL

Is it any wonder FNC is kicking butt?

The networks haven’t even covered the ACORN story, neither has MSNBC. CNN gave it slight of hand coverage.

And yet — 4 employees have been fired and now this!

FNC is the most powerful name in news. How embarrassing for the rest of them.

@TfT, It is totally irresponsible for these news organizations to ignore this ACORN story now. You would have thought they would have learned their lesson with Van Jones. I used to only watch Shep’s shows and Special Report, but now I have to tune in to FNC more often just to see what the others are hiding from the American people.

CNN may not be spending much time on ACORN, but they are sure stuck on the Joe Wilson remark. Wolf just won’t let it go. Could they be any more obvious about their biases?

I have a feeling CNN and MSNBC have a standing order to ignore any story Beck reports on no matter how much evidence there is to support it.

@TfT, I just read your comment about leaving Mediaite on MacNicol’s post. Don’t leave, just don’t post a comment to her blogs or Rachel’s blogs anymore. However, I am even considering returning to TV Newser.

“The top non-FNC show of the night was MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann, which saw a huge night.”

A more accurate sentence would have been: “The top non-FNC show of the night was MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann, which saw a huge night by its own standards.” When the top show on one network wouldn’t rank it among the top 10 on the other network, no rational person would call that huge. At some point, it would be in your interest (both from a publicity standpoint and as a responsible journalists) to point out just how horribly MSNBC and CNN get thrashed every night.

I’ve always wondered how many brain-dead mouth-breathers there are throughout the country who are strapped to their lazy-boy with the television stuck on one channel… and with the advent of Nielsen’s rating system and Fox News, now we know!

  • renagle

Good for Glenn. It must be eating the left up that Beck is not only getting attention, but *gasp* getting results.

You can’t ignore Beck even if you wanted to and since the left is obsessed with Fox News, I’ll expect to see another breathless and ranting post from lefties around the blogosphere. It must eat you you all up. Have to say, Obama is the best thing for conservatism since Carter. We just have to keep his marxist/statist cockroach friends and appointees in the sunlight and Barry’ll be forced to make a choice to either stand by them and expose himself as the radical he is (and those of us paying attention already knew) –or– a spineless poll-watching coward afraid of his own convictions because he knows the country won’t buy it. Keep it coming, Glenn. We’re all student of Saul Alinky now and Barry, WE SEE YOU!

What’s probably contributing to Glenn Beck’s ratings is the unemployment rate. They’re angry and want to blame somebody for all the bad that’s occurred to them and Glenn Beck has an easy answer: all arrows point towards Obama.

The simple answer and the correct one is that Glenn Beck, who personally I cannot watch, although I watch Fox, is not an elitist snob or a pseudo-intellectual. Personally I don’t think he’s ANY kind of intellectual.

For the same reason Sarah Palin is a potent political force despite and almost because of the shrill and silly attacks on her, likewise Beck has a constituency who may indeed not even respond to polls, and might well lie if they responded.

A large number of people intend to vote, and already know who they’re voting for next time.
