Imus To Beck: “Sean Hannity, Rush, They Both Hate You”

video

beck_10-5Well here’s your takeaway from Don Imus‘ first day on Fox Business Network – a lengthy interview with his new colleague in the Fox family, Glenn Beck. (Here’s more on the debut.)

The seven minute interview that took place in studio during the 7amET hour of Imus’ FBN show never got serious, but the jovial atmosphere did allow Imus to put Beck on the hot seat. Specifically, about whether Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh hate him.

The beginning of the interview was largely based around Imus and Beck reflecting at their time as alcoholics, and how they turned their lives around. Also, we know the last drink each had: Imus preferred vodka, while Beck was going with Jack Daniel’s. Each joked about their respective friends warning them about it ‘not ending well’ between the two friends who disagree politically. “If I’m found dead in the street it’s either Van Jones or Don Imus,” said Beck.

But the most interesting moment came as Imus made Beck squirm. “I saw you on the cover of Time magazine, your book’s number one, I noticed, this week. Sean Hannity, Rush they both hate you,” said Imus. It led to this exchange:

Beck: No they don’t.
Imus: They all hate you. You’re telling me Rush is happy you’re on the cover of Time?
B: I actually got a note from Rush.
I: What did it say?
B: (pause) “I hate you.” No Rush has been really very gracious.

Jason Linkins of The Huffington Post recently explored the idea Hannity was “scared” of Beck and his wide-ranging success, and we’ve compared Beck and Limbaugh here before. But confronting Beck on-air with the topic, even in a humorous way, was a surprise. But it’s the kind of surprise Don Imus likely has a lot more of.

At the end of the interview, Imus turned self-deprecating as he brought up Beck’s ‘Obama is racist’ comments from earlier in the summer. “If you were to say that here, I would have gotten blamed,” joked Imus.

haha…Imus looks so out of place at that snazzy studio. I’m used to seeing that trademark cowboy hat in stark, pasty contrast to a sheetrock-white wall in the background.

You know, not that I ever watched Imus or anything.

Wow Imus takes a swipe at Beck, big deal, let’s see him open his big mouth about Obama, Sharpton, Rangel, Van Jones, Eric Holder, Oprah, or even Whoopi Goldberg. Sounds like he is going to stay clear of making any comments about any corrupt black political figures or sleazy black celebrities. Like I said he has no balls when it comes to the black community.

Agreed libra blue, the black community and important black figures must be crushed. How about we create some kind of an organization to oppose them? We should all wear white attire. Oh – and burn crosses! Lets dooooo thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis!

I’m a conservative and I REALLY don’t care what Rush or Sean Hannity think about anything. Glenn Beck has done more in a short period of time to raise the silent masses (from all parties) to take back our government. I was at 9/12 and while a few people shouted Sean’s name – NO ONE shouted Rush’s. Rush’s arrogance unfortunately overpowers his message. Sean just repeats what other people think, write & say (always holding a pen??!!) and he seems to have some obsession with (the great adulterer) Newt Gingrich.
So Imus can say what he wants but Glenn’s in the trenches and these other big egos ARE NOT.

Your sarcasm is dead on, M. Black folks need to be protected and sheltered from criticism. Imus, Beck, and everyone should stick to criticizing white people ONLY! The best way to achieve true “equality,” it so make sure everyone knows we’re not equal, and thusly treat people differently based on their skin color.

I don’t think Sean is worried too much. Sean’s radio ratings are almost on par with Rush’s.

When it comes to FNC, Beck may get better ratings, but Sean will continue to get more ad revenue. Even before the so called boycot of Beck, 9 of the top 10 advertisers on Glen Becks show were direct response ones.

  • ILonaE ILonaE says:

Come on Captain America – Sean is like the movie Groundhog Day. Same old – same old over and over again. When he has something new on his program – it’s someone else’s material. I’ve tried listening to him on the radio but HE NEVER STOPS TALKING. He interrupts everyone on the radio and TV – I have to turn him off. Why have guests or people calling in if you won’t let them speak? I predict Glenn will give Sean a run for his money for the 9 PM time slot on Fox News.

Karl Rove: ‘Fox News Is Fairer Than MSNBC’

    video

Karl Rove was on Meet The Press this morning, discussing Fox News' (where he is a political analyst) coverage of the Obama administration. Have they been as fair to the president as other networks? Even more so, claims the former senior adviser to George W. Bush, especially since some news networks "has opinion people...and those same people playing the part of your news delivery...which would not happen at Fox.” Guess which network he was talking about!

Lindsey Graham On WH ‘Spin’: Americans Are “Tired Of This Crap”

    video

Well, regardless of one's position on the current state health care reform, there should be some joy in that its finally coming to an end, evidenced by the pitched rhetoric on both sides of the debate. Earlier today we saw WH Press Secretary Robert Gibbs confident claim of having the votes to pass a bill in the house. And now we see Senator Lindsey Graham present the yin to that yang during an interview with host Jake Tapper on This Week.
