Cable news ratings, May 25, 2011:

•A tight race at 10 p.m. on Tuesday saw an upset on Wednesday, with Greta Van Susteren‘s visit to the border with Texas Governor Rick Perry on Fox falling to third place among viewers 25-54. CNN’s Anderson Cooper won the hour with 392,000 viewers, followed by MSNBC’s Ed Schultz (who made a high profile apology to Laura Ingraham on the show) in second place with 308,000. In terms of total viewers, On the Record was first, followed by AC 360.

•Fueled by high interest of the Casey Anthony murder trial, HLN’s Nancy Grace again had a strong night, with more than one million total viewers, and 290,000 viewers 25-54. In the demo, Grace was in third place overall, just behind MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell (307,000) but comfortably ahead of CNN’s In the Arena (164,000).

    Well, it finally happened.
Greta lost to both CNN and MSNBC in the demo.
I saw this coming a mile away.

I reiterate…Fox numbers will be down in May compared to last year, MSNBC and CNN will be up.

“Fox was off compared to April a year ago, dropping more than 11 percent versus 2010 in terms of viewers 25-54.”

I love how these one day EXPLAINABLE demo ratings are told like its a suprize… first Greta is normal on her viewership still blowing the competition away in total viewers. People were turining into CNN…like me b/c Cooper was live in Joplin and that was a more inportant and riviting story.. And ED got viewers because they wanted to hear his Suspension speech…. NO STORY HERE.

  • rover37

MSNBC still barely has any show garnish above 1million viewers….FOX every show blows past 1 million viewers everynight. When people say FOX is down 10%… so what they are so high in viewership 10% flucuation will be year to year depending on whats going on…. when your MSNBC and your up 5%…. so what its easy to grow when your the 29th rated cable network. ..not as easy when your #3 like fox.

Dude – O’Donnell barely beats Nancy Grace.

    Ouch.

NOT again, another phony story about the “demo”. LOL

The fired guy got more in the “demo” than every CNN and MSNBC show and he is not on at prime time.
The fired guy got more in the “demo” that everyone on FOX except for O’Reilly and he is on prime time. LOL
