Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham said on Fox & Friends Tuesday that “thugs” in Ferguson, MO, have been encouraged by news media on the ground to turn up the level of unrest in the city.
“We know now that thugs are thugs,” she said. “People who are going to take advantage of the situation are going to do that especially if they know that the media’s all there, right? Got the cameras on everyone. It’s become its own reality show. So, there’s going to be cameras trained on you. You’re going to be looting and you might get stopped but you probably won’t get stopped.”
Ingraham also said she doubts the notion some have put forward that the majority of the rioting and looting taking place in Ferguson are from out-of-towners.
“I don’t know how much stock I put in that. I’m sure there are a few people from out of town. But I don’t think we ahve commuters coming from the West Coast commuting to loot.”
Ferguson has been in a state of turmoil for more than a week, following the killing of 18-year-old Michael Brown, who was black and unarmed when he was shot by a white police officer. The officer, Darren Wilson, claimed he was acting in self defense.
