Nancy Pelosi Thinks Stephen Colbert Testifying To Congress Is ‘Great’

While Stephen Colbert‘s appearance on Capitol Hill had more than a few eyebrows arched, at least one prominent member of Congress is happy to welcome him to Washington: Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Asked where she had caught his testimony on migrant farm workers, she said she hadn’t had time but that she “of course” thought it was appropriate, and found the whole thing just “great.”

Turns out not all of Congress was queasy about the prospect of giving Colbert a microphone at the highest stage in American politics. Asked by ABC News, Speaker Pelosi admitted that she “had been working” and so had little time to watch him, but that “Of course I think it’s appropriate. He’s an American, right? He comes before the committee, he has a point of view, it can bring attention to an important issue like immigration. It’s great.” She didn’t mention what she thought of him being in character, though, and since she hasn’t seen the interview, that might come into place.
