Report: Katie Couric Could Soon Be Part Of Women’s ‘All Star Team’ At ABC

ABC is reportedly “nearing an agreement” with ex-CBS News anchor Katie Couric with a sweetened syndication offer. Howard Kurtz reports the package is so lucrative for Couric, ABC–considered a longshot when Couric began exploring her options after the CBS Evening News–has now jumped to the front of the pack.

“Under the multi-year proposal now on the table, Couric would have almost total ownership of the venture—giving her the potential to make far more than her $15 million-a-year anchor salary,” Kurtz reports. “ABC News President Ben Sherwood provided an important boost, having lunch with Couric and making clear he wanted her to contribute to his news division as well.”

The deal reportedly includes no anchoring at ABC News, but the potential of fill-in work and taking on high-profile news assignments alongside ABC’s roster of celebrity female journalists:

One potential complication was ABC’s star-studded cast of female journalists, led by Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, and Christiane Amanpour: Where, exactly, would Katie fit in? Walters reached out to make Couric feel comfortable.

Now if they can get rid of Walters. Otherwise, it’s going to be interviews with Britney Spears expounding upon the national debt.

Oh! This is gonna be fun.

Must be new meaning for “All Stars”? I always thought All Stars were winners? Amanpour is taking “This Week” down the tubes so I guess if ruining a good show makes you an all star then she is a winner. LOL

  • Azarkhan

If it’s an “All-Star” team, why is Katie Couric on it?

  • lonestar77

I see you use the term “All-Star” loosely. Amanpour is prolly the worst of the group but none of them are all that great. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that they are all liberals, too.

These people aren’t ‘All-Stars’ in any way, shape or form. They’re MEDIA HACKS…the amoebas of society. Is it any wonder that the only awards these cretins win are ones given to them by other backslapping media organizations? It’s all ‘self-congratulatory’ stuff, and they get these swelled heads over the myth that they’re somehow ‘all-stars.’ Laughable.

Wonder what Katie’s Tiffany bill runs?

    Fact: Can you say Geriatrics?

You’ve got that right. Besides, who cares? All of the legacy media are hemorraghing viewers.

    A heck of a lot more than Gingrich’s, I’d bet. She’s a well “decked-out” cougar.

The Katie, Joy and Whoopi Show? That should work.

  • TfT

Dirty dancer Katie is jumping to yet another network?

    Epic fail.

‘ABC’s star-studded cast of female jounoLists’.

  • WCinWI

Hey Katie – Where’s the full Palin interview?

  • Harry Flashman

Another All Star Liberal Women’s Group. I thought they already did that. It’s called “The View”.

    Yawn.

I can’t really see any practical place for Curic in news. I’m sorry, but she has never lived up to the hype. I don’t begrudge her a paycheck somewhere as an entertainment host or something, but news never seemed to be her strong suit in my view.

    Did I read that right? – “Star-Stubbed”
