Rick Sanchez Evokes Keith Olbermann In Stab Against Glenn Beck’s Malia Mockery

video

The bad blood between Glenn Beck and Rick Sanchez is nothing new and, given their fiery personalities, probably to be expected. But today, on Rick’s “List U Don’t Want 2 Be On,” his outrage toward Beck for making fun of Malia Obama (which Beck has apologized for) took another, familiar form, when Sanchez pointed out he thought Beck did the same thing he apologized for in the apology. Hm, where have we heard that before?

The “List U Don’t Want 2 Be On” segment is a close relative of Keith Olbermann‘s “Worst Person in the World,” even when the people that end up on that list would be more likely to be guests on Countdown than villains. Sanchez picks a person who behaved badly that day and reprimands them for their indiscretions. Today, Sanchez chose Glenn Beck for his “Daddy, did you plug the hole yet?” jokes, calling the vote in his office to give him the title unanimous and, judging from his Twitter feed, a “slam dunk.” But in his description, he points out something Olbermann pointed out on his program on Friday, in a manner similar to the MSNBC anchor’s:

“Beck is now apologizing, but you’ll notice in the apology that he again takes a shot at the President of the United States, almost as if he’s implying it’s the President’s fault he was forced to do this… if it was just a mistake, a one-time thing, why did he keep doing it on, and on, and on, seemingly relentlessly?”

Sanchez’s indignation appeared to be genuine– perhaps even moreso because he’s been Beck’s object of ridicule in the past, himself– but his attitude towards the story seemed out of place. The drawn out clip, the evoking of the public opinion… it’s not early evening outrage– it’s primetime outrage, on a network with a very conspicuous hole in it’s primetime lineup. Whether it’s CNN trying to tell us something or Rick Sanchez trying to tell CNN something, it’s still clear that Sanchez does not quite fit in with the rest of his afternoon colleagues.

Rick Sanchez — the biggest joke on CNN.

  • Puter Boi

There are people in Miami still indignant, knowing that Ricardo Leon Sanchez de Reinaldo decided to get drunk, get into his vehicle, and kill Jeffrey Smuzinick.
Ask Mr. Sanchez if he ever apologized to Jeff’s family.

“It could have happened to anybody. … There were probably a lot of other people leaving the stadium that had had a couple of beers as well.” Rick Sanchez…..

  • Big_F-ing_Deal

    It’s true. Becks “apology” was a non-apology.
Try apologizing like that to your wife and see how far you get….

“Honey, I’d like to apologize for losing my temper at you being such a raging bitch. I should have known better.”

A real apology doesn’t have and caveats, you take responsibility for your part without pointing any fingers. Every real man knows that.

The point of the skit is that Obama brought his daughter into the oil spill business himself, when he should have left her out of it. I heard the skit on Friday and I thought it was hilarious, and I believe he was making fun of Obama rather than Malia, but I understand why Glenn apologized. I am still waiting for Seth McFarlane and Bill Maher to apologize for making fun of Trig Palin. But I don’t expect it, since being leftist means never having to say you’re sorry.

Beck must really have a heart full of hate. People like he and Limbaugh always seem to pander to the bottom dwellers in this country – especially on radio. When light shines in on them it’s an ugly sight indeed. Beck’s mistake was temporarily forgetting that people beyond his little ‘crazy world’ are listening and are rightly disgusted by his mean spirited approach to broadcasting.

  • BR

I remember how Olberman, Sanchez, and all of the other liberal pukes defended Palin when jokes were made about her son. Oh, never mind. I forgot, they are hypocrites. More selective outrage from the leftists.

  • writer

Siding with Olbermann in pointing out how rude Beck is? No one sees any irony in that? Not even a little?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cheryl-Jean-Herin/657593637 Cheryl Jean Herin

Political Glutton: I am disgusted by Keith Olbermann calling Michelle Malkin “a mixed-up bag of meat with lipstick” and Sarah Palin “idiot woman”. That is a real “crazy world”. And yet, I don’t want Olbermann off the air like you leftists want Beck off the air. I believe in freedom of speech.

  • Rantus

Now you see what this guy is capable of, and what he’s really all about. If he can do this what can’t he do? He can make fun of anybody, even little kids and he can lie about anything. To some of you he’s your hero, and you’re out here defending him. How sad is that?

Isn’t Rick the illegal immigrant version of KO?

well, there’s two peas in a pod if I ever did see. Sanchez and Olby – two insane raving lunatics. I’m sure emulating Olby will do wonders for Sanchez’s career.

  • stoogedudes

Ughhhh…he apologized and it’s over with. Let’s forget about this one. Trust me, the Beckerhead is gonna say something else soon that he should apologize for any time now. This drum has been beaten, Rick.

Not nearly as ironic as an earlier thread when you gave a rousing defense of Glen(n) by comparing him to an animated cartoon character and a stand-up comedian. That’s irony! And funny!

And you would know that how Sara N. Italy? Sanchez is seldom on CNN International, and MSNBC is not widely available in Italy (assuming you are in Italy). And, where do you come off talking about Glen(n) as if you wath him on a regular basis? What is the FOX satellite assignment in Italy? You don’t have a clue what you are talking about. Just repeating what other rightist extremists say …. What’s he value in that?

I agree! We all know know that it’s just a matter of time until the big implosion comes. FOX has great tolerance for fools, to be sure. All the Marys in Heaven! Geraldo is still working after disclosing advance positions to our enemies, live. Still, th clock is ticking.

There’s a new little invention you may have heard of – it’s called the internet. It’s amazing. You can watch TV online – either streaming channels OR via slingbox. Slingbox is another fancy invention. I can actually watch every channel available. I usually start my day with Morning Joe. Catch up on the FOX shows from the night before, usually O’Reilly, then see what Beck and Hannity had on the night before, then check out red eye. Then I might switch on some Today or GMA, check out Regis and Kelly. Depends on what I am doing that particular day. If I stay p late enough I can catch Beck.

    You really should check it out. Again, it’s called the i n t e r n e t. Amazing little tool.

Also, we here in Italy actually GET FOX news on the TV. And CNN. It’s incredible how the little tv waves swim all the way over here from the big ol’ USofA, into this little hick country. It’s amazing we even HAVE tv here. Golly gee, imagine that!

Has anyone checked Sanchez for papers? RRK is shooting off his mouth again. LOL.

  • Moderate

Rick Sanchez is in a desperate effort to become relevant.

  • Big_F-ing_Deal

    “Which is it BFD?”

It was a good enough apology for a scumbag like Glenn Beck but woefully lacking for anyone who considers himself a real man with strong character.

  • http://trickletown.vox.com/ Trickletown

Faith, Hope, Charity. Which one is Founding Father Beck emulating here? It’s not that I have zero respect for Beck. It’s anti-respect, from the negative column. He has superceded Olbermann as the greatest A**HOLE currently on cable. He has the biggest fanbase of , well, to be nice, folks of questionable reasoning.

  • lazzzlo

Quote…Sanchez’s indignation appeared to be genuine.

If I could believe that….I would have no problem.

When someone’s indignation is up for criticism…doesn’t that seem “lacking”?

Interesting way to drive your car…there might be something out there….duck, just in case.

Frances, you posit these questions…..what do you think?

  • Fox News: We proudly pander to Teabaggers

Blower, can you get some new more material? I hope your “show” has more originality than your comments.

  • lazzzlo

When you are indignant you actually choose an opposing point of view and then you argue that fact. Plus, as an indignant person you argue that you are the only one that is correct. You have been insulted…this can not possibly be correct.

You are willing to die for the pride that you have. You have been insulted.

That’s what the word “indignant” means.

  • lazzzlo

wierd word…pretty sure Rick Sanchez has no idea.

Always a good idea to trust multiple sources.

  • jrcmi

Beck portrays himself as a “rodeo clown.” He is, in fact, a calculating liar.

He knows how to get free publicity. First, make an outrageous statement. Then, after the corporate media “reports” on it, issue a half-hearted apology (which is about as much “heart” as he’s got).

If Beck wore black dresses, he’d be Ann Coulter – except that Ann never apologizes and has a bigger . . . mouth?

Beck was right a couple weeks ago when he condemned the practice of bringing the children of political rivals into the mix. “Just leave the kids out of it”. Then he got carried away on his radio show and violated his own rule. But Glenn is a good man, so he apologized for that. My compliments to Glenn.

Good morning, Gordon Blower “I Don’t Have a Show But I’ve Got a Couple of Disjointed You Tubes on Which I Rave”. I hope you had as great a Memorial Day Weekend as my family and I did. Lots of good pool time, and I whipped up my famous Grilled Chevre Enchiladas and Strawberries Romanoff for a power finish.

A point of law: Sanchez if of Cuban descent, and a US citizen, not of Mexican descent, whether a citizen or not. He doesn’t have to show papers.

  • The Real Royal King

I tend to think, Valkyrie, Glen(n)’s apology was not borne of noble motives. Still, it was an apology, and I don’t think we have one of those from Lard Limbaugh yet. Credit where due.

Rick asks, WHY did he keep ridiculing the President’s 11 year old daughter.

Because Glenn Beck is a DUMB REDNECK!

Did you listen to the entire show, or just the snippet provided by Media Matters and Mediaite?

Anyone with an ounce of intelligence who listened to the show would realize that he was ridiculing Obama, not Malia.

  • The Real Royal King

One has to wonder then, why Malia was bought into the conversation by both Glen(n) and Lard Limbaugh. To what end, if the object of their irrational hatred is President Obama? No, the target was indisputably Malia, by all accounts a polite, disciplined, well-behaved, intelligent young lady. The problem is that Glen(n)’s filthy hands were covered in gun powder residue when it was all over. Too much for even FOX …!

Might I suggest, Sara N. Italy, that you direct some of your vulgar and filthy rants to Malia to deflect some of the scorn and contempt being directed at Glen(n). It would be a big service to Glen(n), his increasingly desperate fans and FOX.

Please return your seats to their full upright position in preparation for landing.

    My point made.

  • The Real Royal King

All the Marys in Heaven! Sara N. Italy made a three (3) word grunt without crude and vulgar language. This has to be first at Mediate, perhaps all sites at which Sara N. Italy has made here presence known.

Perhaps, this was be a good opportunity for me to apologize for not being able to share your devotion and fealty to Glen(n) and to your radical rightist agenda.

  • sarainitaly

    Oh, excuse me.

    My f*cking point made.

    Better?

My radical rightist agenda? Like my support of gay marriage, that I am pro-choice, that I am not sold on charter schools, support separation of church and state, and ending DADT, and am not religious? Those radical right wing agendas?

The Really Reduced Kock, wrong once again!

  • writer

All the Mary’s in Heaven, King! I wasn’t so much as ‘comparing’ Beck to the Family Guy episode or Letterman, as pointing out the left’s hypocrisy. If Beck was out of line for bringing the kids into it, then I’m sure you agree that MacFarlane and Letterman were also out of line for doing so. After all, how can it be wrong in one instance, and right in another? I’m sure you’ll agree, King…fair minded person that you are.

  • writer

BTW, King. You criticize a ‘radical rightist agenda’? How about your extreme far left radical agenda? That doesn’t count, huh?

  • The Real Royal King

I agree, Righter. Glen(n) is, indeed, like unto an animated cartoon character and a stand-up comedian. And, again, thanks for the laughs. They added to our weekend.

  • writer

And again you totally ignore the comments about MacFarlane and Letterman. I guess it’s like Farrakhan, huh? They have to be ‘present’ in order for you to comment. (Although the same doesn’t apply to Beck, evidently)

  • The Real Royal King

Sorry, Righter. I’m not ignoring those comments. I just find them comedic and of no value. I should think that, if you are a rabid Glen(n)phile, you would want to put him in more serious company. Were the comments by the cartoon character and the stand-up comedian uttered by natural persons engaged in our political dialogue, I would find them to be offensive. As it is, I find them merely fodder for people with warped senses of humor. But, please. Don’t let me stop you from comparing Glen(n) to the animated fictional character and the stand-up comedian. There is merit in so doing.

  • writer

And Glenn does an opinion show. He’s not a journalist. (BTW, what is a ‘natural’ person. Is Letterman ‘unnatural’?) In other words, King, if an offensive statement comes from someone on the left, you’ll go into your dance and not comment on the wrongness of it. Same way you can comment on Beck, but couldn’t comment on Farrakhan because he wasn’t ‘present’. Any excuse to get out of criticizing anyone on the left.

  • The Real Royal King

Well, whatever, Righter. But, again, hearty and genuine thanks for the chuckles and chortles over the weekend.

  • writer

Back at ‘cha, King. That ‘he must be present’ line, I tell you. I’m still chuckling over that one.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dona-Barone/1060506711 Dona Barone

Oh I get it….Beck is using that Limbaugh like “satire”. Oh yeah, very witty for the chucklehad set.
Beck, $arah, Rush, Tonya Harding, they are all HILARIOUS!

  • jrcmi

Letterman thought Palin’s OLDER daughter was with her in NYC.

    From: http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2009/06/lettermans_palin_apology_perce.html

“There’s no getting around it, but I never thought it was anybody other than the older daughter, and before the show, I checked to make sure in fact that she is of legal age, 18.”

He apologized, anyway. I’m no big fan, but I give him credit. Continuing to bash him even after Palin accepted his apology is wrong.

    Limbaugh remarked on-air several years ago about Chelsea Clinton’s looks. HE’S one to talk . . . and talk . . . and talk. . . .

Beck has a sure-fire plan: say something ignorant/obnoxious/ridiculous, let the MSM give him some free publicity for awhile, then “apologize.”

  • Integr8d

Thank you, Cheryl, for pointing out what everyone should recognize; Obama should give serious thought before bringing his children into this mess (or any political mess). Good intentions. Desire to pull on people’s heart strings. Whatever. It shouldn’t have happened to begin with.
