The Jerusalem Post splashed its front page with a striking tribute to President Donald Trump, crediting the president with the Gaza peace deal that could finally see the release of all surviving Israeli hostages.
Friday’s cover features Trump’s silhouette filled with the faces of those held captive, beneath the headline “HE’S BRINGING THEM HOME.”
The page also carries a sober warning from former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir: “Perhaps it is early yet to say ‘in the aftermath of the war,’ for we are actually living under a cease-fire in a war which has not yet ended.”
The imagery comes as Israel and Hamas begin implementing the first stage of Trump’s proposed peace plan for Gaza, a 72-hour ceasefire during which 20 living Israeli hostages are expected to be exchanged for about 250 Palestinian prisoners and 1,700 detainees.
A U.S.-supervised multinational force will monitor the truce, with aid trucks already moving into Gaza Friday morning.
The agreement marks the most significant diplomatic development since fighting erupted. Israel will retain control of more than half of Gaza during this initial phase, with further withdrawals tied to later negotiations.
