Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann publicly apologized to CNN senior political contributor Scott Jennings after Jennings referred one of Olbermann’s since-deleted social media posts to the FBI.

“I apologize without reservation to [Scott Jennings],” Olbermann wrote in a Tuesday post to X.

Olbermann said his messages related to Jennings and late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel could be “misinterpreted as a threat.”

“Yesterday I wrote and immediately deleted 2 responses to him about Kimmel because they could be misinterpreted as a threat to anything besides his career. I immediately replaced them with ones specifying what I actually meant,” he wrote.

Olbermann followed up with a quick post condemning political violence.

“I oppose and condemn political violence, and the threat of it. All times are the wrong time to leave even an inadvertent impression of it – but this time is especially wrong,” he wrote. “I should’ve acknowledged the deletion and apologized yesterday. I’m sorry I delayed.”

“You’re next, motherf***er… But keep mugging to the camera,” Olbermann originally wrote in responses to Jennings.

The posts were in response to Jennings talking about the suspension of Kimmel over comments related to the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

“So basically his employer suspended him for being an insensitive prick, and we don’t live in an authoritarian regime? Got it,” Jennings wrote.

In other responses, Olbermann told Jennings his “career is next.”

Olbermann’s now-deleted responses were shared by Jennings, who tagged FBI Director Kash Patel.
