Bill Maher, O’Donnell Mercilessly Mock Palin and GOP Civil War

We just can’t get enough of Rob Ford. The crack-smoking Toronto mayor has amused and bewildered millions of people every time he’s opened his mouth. And it was with that in mind that Bill Maher admitted to Lawrence O’Donnell Tuesday night that Ford is starting to grow on him, and not just because he’s personally dug a comedic goldmine for comics like Maher.

Maher admitted, “There is something refreshing about a politician for once pointing his finger back at his accusers.” He and O’Donnell agreed that’s a level of “self-righteousness” amongst Ford’s loudest critics. Besides, as O’Donnell said, “Hey, it’s Toronto, what could go wrong?”

Maher then took on Sarah Palin for thinking Christmas is under attack by atheists, explaining that most atheists don’t care about Christmas and Christians like Palin suffer from this bizarre “persecution complex” in a country where the vast majority are Christian.

Maher also took on the supposed rift in the Republican party, saying it’s really “overblown” and aside from the “old Wall Street” crowd, the GOP is still in love with the tea party and doesn’t want them to go away any time soon.
