BREAKING: Trump Says June 12 North Korea Summit is Back On

On Friday, after a meeting at the White House with top-level North Korean official Kim Yong Chol, President Donald Trump announced that the June 12 Summit with North Korea would go on as planned in Singapore — despite it previously being canceled.

The North Korean delegation met with Trump to hand a letter from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to the president.

After accompanying the visitors to their waiting vehicles, Trump told the press that the North Korean summit was back on.

“We’ll be meeting on June 12 in Singapore,” Trump told reporters, noting that the meeting at the White House today “went very well.”

He added: “It’s a get-to-know-you situation,” and in the process, “we’ve gotten to know their people very well.”

Trump stopped short of making promises of what would come of the historic summit, however, noting, “It will be a process…The relationships are building and that’s a very positive.”

He also blamed the media for sending the wrong message when the White House first announced the summit was canceled

“The media said oh, you had a meeting and you canceled,” Trump told the press. “I didn’t cancel the meeting. I canceled in response to a very tough statement. We’re over that, totally over that.”
