Chris Matthews Rips Trump Over Whitaker: At Least ‘Nixon Had Some Shame’

Chris Matthews went off on President Donald Trump tonight over the appointment of Matt Whitaker as acting attorney general, given his very public statements bashing the Mueller probe.

After Matthews laughed at the spin from Kellyanne Conway and the way Trump had tried to distance himself from Whitaker, the Washington Post‘s Philip Rucker said that Trump has actually been briefed by Whitaker in the Oval Office several times because he hated Jeff Sessions and didn’t want to be briefed by him.

Matthews wanted to know who is behind the scenes whispering in Trump’s ear to put Whitaker in there instead of the post naturally going to Rod Rosenstein.

He added that Whitaker clearly auditioned for Trump in his TV appearances “hitting all of Trump’s erogenous zones.”

MSNBC legal analyst Paul Butler said Whitaker is clearly a “walking conflict of interest” with his own ethical issues.

“There’s a big difference between Richard Nixon and Donald Trump,” Matthews concluded. “Richard Nixon had some shame. This guy has none.”
