CNN Columnist Dismisses Concerns Over Obamacare Lies: ‘Every President Is Going to Lie to You’
During a discussion on CNN Sunday night about President Obama‘s trustworthiness, panelist and CNN columnist LZ Granderson defended the untrue refrain of “if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor” with a pretty unique argument. He told anchor Rosa Flores and conservative radio host Ben Ferguson that all presidents lie to people, but when Obama lied, he did it with the “best interests of the American people” at heart, and described it as a political lie that people can live with.
New polls have shown Obama’s poll numbers on trustworthiness flailing, but Granderson argued that Americans have shown that even if Obama lies to them, they’re not going to go into an uproar over it.
“He should have been more forthright with how the Affordable Care Act was going to impact the country. But with that being said, all Americans know politicians lie. The question is, which lies can you live with? And, time and time again, Americans have said, ‘We can deal with the lies that President Obama tells us because we believe in his heart, he has the best interest for the American people.’ Every president is going to lie to you. Every politician is going to lie to you. The question is, which lies can you live with?”
A flabbergasted Ferguson shot back that this was a pretty brazen lie for the leader of the free world to tell people over and over and over, only to walk it back after getting caught.
