Former NY Governor George Pataki Agrees: Sarah Palin Could Beat Obama
George Pataki recently joked that having started his political career as a small city mayor in New York, saying ““It was a challenging job, mayor of Peekskill, let me assure you,” adding: “Twice the size of Wasilla.” Not only was this seen as possible presidential rhetoric, but also a not-so-thinly veiled jab at former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Today during an appearance on Morning Joe he clarified these words and also offered insight on how he felt Ms. Palin could handle a crisis like what’s currently happening in the Korean Peninsula.
Pataki was very careful with his words, expressing both support for Palin’s presidential bid, but also clearly stating that she owes the people a clearer explanation for her resignation from her Governorship. Pataki showed deft political diplomacy as he threaded the rhetorical needle, particularly when he was plainly asked by former Newsweek Editor Jon Meacham if he felt Palin was up for the job as president.
