Fox’s Ari Fleischer Pours Cold Water on Trump’s Efforts to End Russia-Ukraine War: ‘Putin Isn’t Listening’
Fox News pundit and former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer doesn’t appear too convinced about the prospect of President Donald Trump securing a peace deal in the Ukraine war, saying that Vladimir Putin “isn’t listening.”
Fleischer’s remarks came during Wednesday’s Outnumbered broadcast, not long after Trump revealed in a Truth Social post that he had spoken to Putin on the phone for about an hour and 15 minutes, and was told “very strongly,” that the Russian strongman “will have to respond” to Ukraine’s devastating drone attack on Russian airfields last week.
After Kayleigh McEnany read out Trump’s post on the matter, one thing was clear to Fleischer: “It doesn’t seem like there will be any prospect of peace between Ukraine and Russia.”
Fleischer, the lone male on the Outnumbered panel Wednesday went on to say that he questions whether Trump, as a peacemaker, can get the job done because it’s clear Putin “does not care” and “is not listening.”
But this is also where I question President Trump’s ability to influence these events, because President Putin does not care. And we as Americans, we don’t have much leverage over Russia. We are adversaries with Russia for the most part, we don’t do a lot of commercial trade with Russia, so we don’t have the leverage we’ve had in other places that President Trump can use. So I think this is a lonely mission for President Trump and he’s going to quickly come to the realization Putin’s not listening, America doesn’t have a lot of leverage. There are other priorities for the Unites States around this world.
