Fox’s Martha MacCallum Warns That Bernie Sanders Wants to ‘Mamdanify the Nation’

Fox News’ Martha MacCallum warned that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and others are attempting to “Mamdanify” the nation with socialist candidates on Wednesday.

MacCallum joined Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino on America’s Newsroom to discuss the rise of “socialism” in the United States following self-described Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani’s victory New York City’s mayoral race this month.

Hemmer also noted the rise of a similar Mamdani-like candidate in Katie Wilson, who is running to be mayor of Seattle and has called herself a “socialist.” Vote counts thus far show Wilson with a lead over incumbent Bruce Harrell, as of Wednesday morning.

Hemmer reported about Wilson:

Here we go, call for one, Trump-proof Seattle, I don’t know what that means, but that’s what she’s talking about. Policies rooted in equity, a billion dollar bond for affordable housing, install city-owned solar panels, create green union jobs, and fund alternative crisis response service. She’s pushing other things too about affordability and fast-tracking shelter space when the other mayor cleared everybody out, the homeless encampments, she wants to change the way police do their job and their tactics. Sounds a little bit — no it doesn’t, it sounds a lot about what we’ve heard in New York.

“The Democratic Socialists of America are growing. It’s it’s an increasing group. And we heard very clearly from Bernie Sanders that he thinks the momentum is right now to try to get as many people elected across the country as they can. He wants to Mamdanify the nation, in his own expression of that,” MacCallum said.

She argued the government shutdown gave more radical Democrats momentum to push aside current party leaders.

“What we’re seeing is the seizing of the moment to push [Chuck] Schumer out. I don’t know if Schumer’s actually gonna go anywhere. I remember the movements to push out Nancy Pelosi, to push up Mitch McConnell. These people do not go quietly into the night, so we’ll see,” she said.

Perino warned Democratic socialists are “coming to a city near you,” and MacCallum agreed.

“That’s why we’ve been saying that these candidates, these Democratic socialists, they’re coming to a city near you,” Perino said. “This is — they are extremely organized. They meet every week. They have door-knocking abilities… They have amazing social media and they are coming.”
