Friday’s Ratings: Fox News And The Five Fly High

Fox News’ The Five has shown some solid growth in their ratings since their debut, but they hadn’t yet been the highest-rated show of the night on any channel. Until Friday night.

Not only did they win the time slot for the 25-54 year-old demo, but they took down every other news show on cable. Granted, Juan WIlliams Laura Ingraham was subbing once again for Bill O’Reilly, but The Five still beat out the rest of the shows on the FNC slate, all of which are normally very strong.

Some other fun facts from Friday:

  • There were plenty of specials floating around — from MSN’s Michael Jackson programs to FOX’s Iowa — throwing things into a bit of chaos. Fox News actually finished a shockingly-low third at 10 p.m., trotting out the Iowa show (which pre-empted Greta Van Susteren against the Jackson special and Anderson Cooper.
  • Speaking of…a rising Anderson Cooper and his AC360 drew more viewers than MSNBC’s The Ed Show
  • Huzzahs to Nancy Grace, who captured 234,000 demo viewers at 8 p.m., catapulting her into second place in the slot, just 1,000 viewers ahead of Anderson Cooper. Dr. Drew benefited from Grace’s strong lead-in, attracting 191,000 viewers and finishing in third.
