Gutfeld Praises Jimmy Fallon for Bringing Him on Tonight Show: ‘Nice He’s Taking the Risk’
Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld revealed he is “psyched” for an upcoming appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, praising the comedian for “taking the risk.”
Gutfeld revealed that he will be appearing on The Tonight Show alongside the Jonas Brothers next week.
“I am doing Jimmy Fallon next week. I’m psyched about it because Fallon comes across as a great guy,” Gutfeld said Thursday on The Five. “And me going on his show shows he’s not worried about upsetting his peers.”
Gutfeld’s comedic Gutfeld! is modeled in some ways after late night shows, but it benefits from an earlier timeslot than most at 10 p.m. EST. He regularly clobbers network late night shows in the ratings, even toppling Stephen Colbert’s recent ratings bump, which came after the announcement that his Late Show is being cancelled. In 2023, Gutfeld authored a book declaring himself the King of Late Night.
Gutfeld regularly criticizes left-leaning late night hosts, but he was full of praise for Fallon on Thursday. He specifically complimented the comedian for interviewing Trump during his first presidential campaign. Fallon later said after the Trump appearance that he was “devastated” by the backlash as he was “only trying to have fun.”
“Remember, he got a lot of stick for ‘humanizing’ Trump when he tousled his hair, but it didn’t come from anybody but the people on the left who wanted to teach all entertainers a lesson that if you dare show that Trump is a human, then you’re toast,” Gutfeld said. “And so it’s kind of nice that’s he’s taking this risk.”
