‘I’m Sick Of It!’: Keith Boykin Goes Nuts on CNN Over Trump Tweets
CNN political commentator Keith Boykin delivered a blistering rant to a hapless Pete Seat on CNN Thursday over President Donald Trump’s tweet on MSNBC’s Mike Brzezinski’s bleeding face.
Seat, a former White House spokesman for the Bush administration, picked up deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ argument that the president is a “fighter” and blamed the media for the tweet.
“Most people watching this in the heartland,” Seat said, “they don’t care.”
That started Boykin’s blood on a light simmer:
“Pete, this is ridiculous,” he said. “This is absolutely absurd you are not condemning this petty, vindictive, sexist attack from the President of the United States against a female journalist.”
“How much longer will Republicans allow Donald Trump’s childish behavior, his petty vindictiveness to consume this country’s politics?” Boykin asked. “This has to end. And the only way it ends is if people like you, who call yourselves respectable Republicans have the courage to stand up and say something about it.”
After calling on Republican lawmakers to condemn Trump, Boykin took aim at First Lady Melania Trump:
She “said she was going to fight against cyberbullying. Well, Donald Trump is the chief cyberbully in our country and she needs to stand up to her husband today and look him in the face and say, cut it out.”
“This is shameful, it’s disgraceful, he’s making a mockery of our country and the presidency and the White House,” Boykin said.
In response, Seat asked Boykin “when are you going to have to courage to admit that the policies that your party has supported are the reason that Donald Trump is the President of the United States?”
Kate Bolduan had to jump in an separate the two, noting that whether or not people in the heartland care about Trump’s tweets, it’s still important to focus on his comments, to which Seat replied that the media is unfairly choosing to focus on the tweets.
“This president is tweeting about it!” cried an exasperated Boykin. “We’re not supposed to focus on what the president is talking about? The president is tweeting about it!”
“How can you say the media is focussing on it when the President of the United States is talking about this, this morning,” he boomed.
“He’s not talking about health care, he not talking sanctuary cities, he’s not talking about immigration, he’s talking about Mika Brzezinski and saying that she’s bleeding from a facelift!”
“That’s unacceptable behavior from the president of the United States and i’m quite frankly sick of it!” he cried.
“I’m sick of having to go on television every week and talk about this stupidity because people like you Pete continue to defend this. It’s unacceptable, it’s un-American, stand up and have some courage for a change!”
Seat again refused to condemn Trump’s comments and responded, naturally, that “the American people” don’t care about Trump’s tweets.
