Jason Chaffetz Fights Back Tears While Describing Trump Phone Call After He Witnessed Charlie Kirk Shooting

Jason Chaffetz revealed he received a phone call from President Donald Trump following his witnessing the shooting of Charlie Kirk in Utah.

Chaffetz, a former Utah congressman, described the phone call on Thursday to Harris Faulkner on Fox News’ The Faulkner Focus. Chaffetz was in attendance on Wednesday at the Utah campus event where Kirk was shot and killed. Chaffetz had called into Fox the day prior, not long after the shooting, to give an eyewitness account. Chaffetz was friends with Kirk and spoke to him shortly before the shooting.

“I hope I can get through this part,” Chaffetz told Faulkner on Thursday as he fought back tears. “The president called me, and I was very touched by that. And he talked about his love of Charlie and his family. That man, Donald Trump, is a rock. That guy’s amazing. Everything going on in the world and the president wanted to see how I was doing and wanted to talk about that beautiful lady and his family. And it was a really good conversation, and very grateful that we have a president who cares the way he does.”

Chaffetz also threw praise at FBI Director Kash Patel, revealing he also received a call from him. Chaffetz argued he appreciated Patel’s frequent updates on the case. Some MAGA followers have pushed back on Patel and slammed him for his social media posts on the Kirk shooting.

“I left that call late last night feeling like you have an FBI director who knows what he’s doing and that’s pouring every resource and that they were far ahead of what they could release to the public,” he said. “And so we wake up this morning, we keep getting these updates, I thought, that’s the FBI that we signed up for.”
