Martin, Baldwin, Hanks, Other Legends Hilariously Welcome Timberlake To The SNL Five-Timers Club
As promised by Steve Martin‘s tweet Friday, Saturday Night Live assembled an epic line-up of stars to welcome Justin Timberlake to the prestigious five-timers club (people who have hosted the show at least five times).
Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin, Tom Hanks, Martin Short, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Candice Bergen and Paul Simon all showed up to usher Timberlake into the club. Timberlake brandished his brand new five-timers club card, before entering the exclusive room, where members wear robes and smoke pipes.
Simon played a few bars of “Sounds of Silence,” Martin mocked Timberlake’s ‘NSYNC past and Aykroyd, who’s merely an original cast member, fixed drinks. Same went for Martin Short, who is a legendary cast member and host, but hasn’t reached the magic number five.
Overall, the star-studded, once-in-a-lifetime SNL monologue foreshadowed a uniquely strong episode.
