Mehdi Hasan Goes Scorched Earth on Biden, Accuses Him of Risking ‘The Future of American Democracy’ for Bibi ‘And the Rest of the Fascists in Israel’

Former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan tore into President Joe Biden on CNN, Thursday, and accused him of risking “the future of American democracy” for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “and the rest of the fascists in Israel.”

After criticizing the Biden administration’s refusal to condemn Israel for the aid convoy massacre on Thursday, during which at least 112 Palestinians were killed, Hasan said:

Joe Biden has the power to pick up the phone and end this war. He can ring the Israeli prime minister and say, “We’re cutting you off. We’re cutting off aid, we’re cutting off armaments.” Israelis themselves, Israeli generals say, “We can’t do this war without America.” He hasn’t done it. He didn’t do it after 10,000 dead, he didn’t do it after 20,000 dead, today we cross 30,000 dead. You have to ask the question, why? This is a man who is seen as the great comforter-in-chief, the great empath, has had huge personal tragedy in his own family, and yet 30,000 Palestinians, according to his own defense secretary today. 25,000 women and children. How on earth has he not stopped the war til now? How are we still debating this?

After pointing out that many Palestinian civilians were currently starving, Hasan noted, “This is not a natural disaster, this is a man-made famine. Food is plentiful, it’s available, it’s a few miles away, and yet it’s being blocked. In fact, at the Israeli crossing, Abby, I don’t know how many CNN viewers know that people are putting up bouncy castles, the Israeli protesters, and eating popcorn and cotton candy and blocking the aid.”

Asked whether Biden would deserve it if he lost the presidency in 2024 over his administration’s response to the conflict, Hasan said, “What I would say is that Joe Biden has rightly said for the last few years that Donald Trump poses an existential threat to our democracy.”

He concluded, “The idea that he would risk not only his own presidency but the future of American democracy for the sake of Benjamin Netanyahu and Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich and the rest of the fascists in Israel is bizarre and inexplicable to me.”

While Biden has suggested that he is in support of a Gaza ceasefire, his administration has repeatedly blocked resolutions at the United Nations to implement one.
