Mike Huckabee: I’m Not In A War With Palin, Bachmann and Limbaugh

Former Governor and Fox News host Mike Huckabee appeared on Fox News Sunday and Chris Wallace grilled him over a potential food fight he’s having with big name conservatives regarding America’s obesity epidemic. Whereas Sarah Palin, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and Rush Limbaugh all have criticized First Lady Michelle Obama‘s “nanny state” proposals to curb obesity, Huckabee instead defended her efforts.

Despite his strong support for the First Lady, Huckabee was even more adamant in making sure Wallace understood his relationship with the conservatives who do not share his same opinion:

“I didn’t say they’re all wrong. Let’s be real clear, because then it sounds like I’m in a war with Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann and Rush Limbaugh. And I’m not.”

This might be why Huckabee remains popular in many polls of potential Republican candidates for President, as he is able to thread the needle just right between finding an opportunity to praise Obama, while still recognizing the influence of the Palin/Bachmann/Rush triumvirate and being visibly worried about potentially upsetting them. Huckabee concluded on the obesity issue, “this is no longer just a health issue, an economic issue, it is becoming an issue of national security.”
