Miss America 2010: Sarah Palin, Tiger Woods, Jersey Shore Zingers Usurp World Peace
After all that, the winner was Miss Virginia Caressa Cameron, who didn’t tell any late-night-comic-style jokes. While you watch her winning walk, you can sing along with Bert Parks’ weirdly anachronistic victory song:
There she is, Miss America…There she is, your ideal
The dreams of a million girls…Who are more than pretty…May come true in Atlantic City
Oh she may turn out to be…The queen of femininity
There she is, Miss America…There she is, your ideal
With so many beauties…She’ll take the town by storm
With her all-American face and form
And there she is…Walking on air she is
Fairest of the fair she is…Miss America
Wow, Bert really painted them into a corner by centering the whole song around Atlantic City. Maybe Miss New Jersey should have said “Give us back our pageant!”
To the quippy runners-up, I would remind them that all is not lost. From Carrie Prejean to Vanessa Williams, and even Sarah Palin, pageant losers often end up a lot more famous than the winners.
