O’Reilly Factor’s Jesse Watters Confronts Dems for Comments About GOP Racism
On Monday night’s O’Reilly Factor, Jesse Watters tracked down Democratic congressmen Steve Israel and Bennie Thompson over comments both men made about racism in the GOP. Watters followed both men, interrogating them about their remarks, and kept Israel in the elevator for a bit just so he could get a straight answer from him.
Watters complained to Israel, who said the GOP base is “animated by racism,” and the New York congressman rolled his eyes at Watters grilling him about an “out-of-context” statement in remarks spoken weeks ago. Watters kept on, even keeping Israel in a congressional elevator to get him to answer, before Israel told him he’s keeping him from an important vote and shooing him a way.
Thompson, on the other hand, seemed more willing to engage, telling Watters he called Clarence Thomas an “Uncle Tom” because black people have a problem “with his lack of sensitivity” on the Supreme Court. He said he disagrees with Thomas’ opinion “as it relates to people of color,” and Watters asked if he believes all black Republicans are Uncle Toms. Thompson responded, “I didn’t know a Supreme Court justice was a Republican.”
