Steve Doocy Goes ALL IN on Nikki Haley Segment Featuring the Elusive Judge Judy Endorsement
Steve Doocy remains uncowed by insults and pressure from former President Donald Trump, evidenced by a notably favorable segment featuring his last political rival, Nikki Haley.
For those who live in a blissfully non-obsessive political media world, Doocy has remained a voice of reason on the right-of-center opinion show while co-hosting with others who seem to be all in on Trump. Doocy has repeatedly shown the temerity to occasionally note facts that are not politically expedient to the 45th president, putting him squarely in the cross hairs of Trump’s non-stop barrage of insults towards anyone who doesn’t show immediate fealty.
In this context, Doocy’s Monday morning segment, which would otherwise be viewed as anodyne morning show fodder, looked more like a full-fledged campaign promotion for the former UN Ambassador and Republican moderate challenging Trump.
The tone of the segment was convivial and fun, evidenced by a cheery music bed, an interview at a UNH hockey game, and Doocy asking Haley about the barrage of insults SHE has received from Trump, at one point saying, “I think you are getting to him because the attacks are nonstop now.” No lie was detected.
What followed was hero shots of Haley bonding with New Hampshire’s Live Free or Die set, including Governor Chris Sununu, who has been a remarkably effective surrogate for Haley’s campaign. But Doocy brought out the big guns when Judge Judy made a cameo on Fox News. Yes, Judge Judy.
“He should not be president,” she told Doocy. “We don’t want a barnyard bully as president. We want to listen to somebody who has got the facts that the world respects.”
After the glowing segment aired, Doocy noted how Haley had purchased three minutes of air time in all three local networks that featured the parents of Otto Warmbier, the American citizen who returned to the US in a coma from North Korea and died shortly after. Doocy described the spot as focusing on how “Donald Trump kisses up to dictators and wrote love letters to Kim Jong,” adding, “From what I’ve heard, it’s a very powerful commercial.”
“But a lot of people would say they liked how Donald Trump would visit with Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un, even though he agrees with the policies,” Ainsley Earhardt dutifully defended Trump. “To have a relationship might be easier when you negotiate.”
