Trevor Noah Praises Trump: ‘NoKo Would Have Never Come To The Table’
On Wednesday night, Trevor Noah spoke positively of President Trump for the seemingly promising progress that has been made regarding peace talks with North Korea.
It’s being reported that North and South Korea have revived negotiations and are potentially working on an official end to their Korean War after a 65-year cease fire, something the president has taken some credit for.
The Daily Show host began by saying that his first instinct was to “hate” and mock Trump for “making everything about himself,” but he admitted that the president was right.
“If it wasn’t for his craziness, North Korea would have never come to the table,” Noah said. “You know, that’s what he did. Trump is like the near-death experience that makes people forget why they were fighting in the first place. That’s who he is.”
Noah praised what seemed to be “actual progress” and brought up how the U.S. has been “sliding into North Korea’s DMs” when CIA Director and Secretary of State nominee Mike Pompeo secretly met with North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un.
He then had a big laugh when Trump unexpectedly responded to a reporter’s question about whether if he or anyone in his administration had spoken directly with North Korea, which he turned around and gave an enthusiastic “yes.”
“He was trying so hard! He was trying so hard but he couldn’t help it!” Noah exclaimed. “You could see, he was like ‘Be presidential. Be presidential. Be presidential…. Yes! Yes we talked to him! 3 PM on a Tuesday at a secret location!'”
