‘Sorry You Feel That Way’: Fox News’s Bret Baier Corrects Trump Fan Who Had Her Facts Wrong

Fox News anchor Bret Baier politely and apologetically corrected a fan of ex-President Donald Trump who had her facts wrong about statements Trump made in recent days.

Baier interviewed former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on Thursday night’s edition of Fox News Channel’s Special Report, and prefaced that interview by playing clips of Trump lashing out at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli defense officials, while praising Hezbollah as “very smart.”

Baier pressed McCarthy about those remarks and also cited an infamous 2021 article in which an embittered Trump attacked Netanyahu for congratulating President Joe Biden on his victory over Trump.

He asked McCarthy to explain how Trump’s remarks factor in “when Israel is going through what it’s going through.”

A Trump supporter named Stephanie Young objected to Baier’s questioning and accused him of misleading viewers, writing on X/Twitter:

@BretBaier was nasty on Trump this evening speaking with @SpeakermcCarthy He played a clip from 2021 as if it was Trump’s words today. Also he nagged @SpeakerMcCarthy repeatedly. He was rude and unpleasant!

Baier apologized for possibly having “confused” Young and explained that she was mistaken — the clips of Trump attacking Netanyahu and praising Hezbollah as “very smart” were from this week — and he even thanked her for watching:

Sorry you felt that way. The former President’s comments about Netanyahu and Hezbollah were made in Florida yesterday. They were played on air before the interview. I quoted an article that aimed to provide more context to the Trump-Netanyahu relationship in recent years- sorry if it was confusing. Thanks for watching.
