Avenatti Claims Time Report That He Said Dems Should Run a ‘White Male’ in 2020 is ‘Complete Bullsh*t,’ Time Stands By Story

After receiving heavy criticism for comments made in a Time magazine interview, Michael Avenatti claims he did not suggest that the Democratic Party should have a white male as their nominee in 2020, according to the Daily Caller.
Specifically, the Stormy Daniels lawyer and potential Democratic presidential candidate said he did not say the following: “When you have a white male making the arguments, they carry more weight. Should they carry more weight? Absolutely not. But do they? Yes.”
“I never said that, that’s complete bullshit. That’s my comment, complete bullshit,” Avenatti said when asked about the comments by the Daily Caller. “No, that’s not what I said.”
The outlet also reported that “Avenatti even first expressed confusion about the existence of such a profile altogether.”
Time responded to his comments by telling the Daily Caller that they stand “by our reporting.”
During the Time interview, Avenatti discussed his plans to run for president and mentioned that his platform would include progressive causes like Medicare for All, but would exclude further left ideas like abolishing the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He also pushed for FDR-style employment initiatives, like infrastructure. “You can’t go into Youngstown, Ohio, and tell everybody they’re going to be retrained and go work for Google or Apple,” Avenatti said, but added that he doesn’t know how he’d advocate to pay for such measures.
Avenatti added this on Twitter:
Let me be clear: I have consistently called on white males like me to step, take responsibility, and be a part of stoping the sexism and bigotry that other white males engage in. It is especially important for them to call out other white males. I make this pt in my speeches.
