Beck Invokes Saudi Arabia, Witch-Burnings, and Memories Pizza to Bash Rolling Stone
Glenn Beck got really fired up today about Rolling Stone‘s discredited UVA rape report and its author Sabrina Erdely, declaring America to be “the opposite of Saudi Arabia” as a result. Why? Because in Saudi Arabia, he said, women who make accusations of rape need two male witnesses to counter whatever the man says, but in the U.S., “we don’t even listen to the man.”
He asked, “In what universe is there not two sides to a story?”
But then Beck went a step further and compared this to Salem witch-burning hysteria. He went off for several minute talking about burning people at the stake or throwing them in the river to see if they float. He even invoked Memories Pizza, saying, “If you’re a pizza owner, WITCH! Let’s burn them!”
Beck and his co-hosts mocked Erdely’s apology, and noted with some sincerity that, actually, UVA has become a leader in fighting back against rape as a result of the false report.
