Ben Jealous Calls Out CNN Bias: ‘There’s a Certain Tilt’ to Their ‘Spin’ Coverage of Hillary

During Thursday night’s Democratic “Battle in Brooklyn” former President of the NAACP — and fervent Bernie Sanders supporterBen Jealous weighed in on some of the conflict of interest that he sees out of CNN’s coverage of the 2016 race.

Speaking with Jordan Chariton of The Young Turks, Jealous gave his honest assessment about the connection between the Turner shareholding properties and the disproportionate number of employees who have donated to the Hillary Clinton campaign. “CNN is a perplexing predicament for us because when you look at whose employees have donated the most to her campaign, Time Warner comes out number [seven],” said Jealous.

“They don’t disclose that, either,” added Chariton in the interview.

“That’s been frustrating to us. The spin seems to reflect that sometimes. They have great people on there,” furthered Jealous. ” — people who are honest and hard-working. But there’s a certain tilt to the overall network that leaves a lot to be desired.”

CNN News Group, which includes the CNN domestic, international, radio, and digital properties, is part of the larger Turner Broadcasting System, an asset of Time Warner Inc. Earlier this month, over two thousand Bernie Sanders supporters protested CNN’s Los Angles headquarters in defiance of the network’s coverage of their upstart underdog candidate.

Jealous has previously said of the Vermont Senator, “Bernie Sanders has been a principled, courageous, insistent fighter against the evils that Dr. King referred to as the giant triplets of racism, militarism and greed.”
