During a speech at the University of Buffalo on Wednesday night, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was heckled by an audience member about the attacks on the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and drew applause when she talked over the man as he was escorted out.
“Benghazi! Benghazi! You let them die,” the man shouted in the midst of Clinton’s forty-minute speech.
“We have to be willing to come together as citizens to focus on the kind of future we want, which doesn’t include yelling,” Clinton said as the man was led out of the arena. “It includes sitting down and talking with one another.”
The crowd loudly cheered the response.
Clinton took questions after the speech, many of which focused on her 2016 presidential run.
“Perhaps you could describe for us what the ideal candidate for the president would look like,” an interviewer asked her.
“That is a new way of phrasing it,” Clinton responded. “I have to give you credit.”
