Chris Christie: If Election Were Held Tomorrow, ‘That Would Be A Problem’

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie took a moment to remark on the state of Mitt Romney‘s campaign today, noting there’s much to be done before the finish line come November.

But thankfully, they’ve got a bit of time — because were the election tomorrow, he said, it wouldn’t bode well for Team Romney.

We had a bad week — if the election were going to be held tomorrow that would be a problem, but there’s a lot of ground to cover in the next 42 days,” Christie told reporters, according to Bloomberg. “I don’t think we need to overreact on this.”

Christie also said he spoke with Romney yet, but chose not to divulge any details about their conversation. The governor, you’ll recall, gave a keynote speech at the Republican National Convention last month, and has been a top surrogate for Romney.
