Chuck Todd Blasts Fox News After Guest Suggests FBI Ought To Be Shut Down

On Thursday night, NBC News’ Chuck Todd went after Fox News for something a guest said regarding the Robert Mueller investigation.

Last night, Tom Fitton, the president of the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch, blasted the Department of Justice for the several allegations of conflicts of interest that have emerged in recent weeks.

“I think the FBI has been compromised,” Fitton told Shannon Bream. “Forget shutting down Mr. Mueller. Do we need to shut down the FBI because it was turned into a KGB-type operation by the Obama administration?”

Well, Todd had a strong reaction to those remarks.

“A major news organization showcasing the idea of shutting down the entire FBI?!?” Todd tweeted. “Ask yourself: is this a newsmaker, ie an elected official who can put opinions into action? Or was the point of sending this out because the idea is something the news org wants to showcase?”

Fox News has been in the line of fire by its cable news competitors in recent weeks for its coverage of the Mueller investigation. CNN’s Carl Bernstein accused the network of “abetting a cover-up.” MSNBC panelist Max Boot called Fox News’ coverage of Mueller “disgusting and disgraceful” added political analyst Steve Schmidt compared the network’s “propaganda” to what you’d see “if you lived in Belarus or if you lived in Russia.”
