Clinton Fdn Head Once Said Clintons Were ‘Paranoid,’ Obsessed with ‘Right-Wing Conspiracy’
In new audio uncovered by “anti-Clinton website” Washington Free Beacon, the head of the Clinton Foundation Donna Shalala can be heard calling Hillary and Bill Clinton “paranoid” and obsessed with the so-called “right-wing conspiracy” against them.
Shalala made the comments in an 1994 interview with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Haynes Johnson, during Shalala’s tenure as Secretary of Health and Human Services under President Clinton. The Free Beacon obtained the audio from the Wisconsin Historical Society on the University of Wisconsin campus.
“They’ve become paranoid. Paranoia. Thinking people are out to get them, this right-wing conspiracy stuff,” Shalala can be heard saying.
“There is a feeling in the White House — and I don’t know whether it’s [Clinton advisors James] Carville or [Paul] Begala or who’s giving them the materials,” she said. “But sitting on the desks of their staff there’s these materials on this right-wing conspiracy.”
Shalala adds that the Clintons were always “feeling sorry for themselves” and genuinely believed “there really [was] a conspiracy out there to get us.”
