All the joking at the expense of the New England Patriots made it to the Oval Office, with President Obama telling everyone ahead of the Super Bowl to keep it clean. Last week it was Josh Earnest zinging Tom Brady over his strange press conference, and now it’s the president’s turn.
Obama, speaking at a Democratic retreat, said he would stay neutral (though last year he did call the Seahawks the best football team in America after their big Super Bowl win), but went on to say, “I want to just remind the New England and Pacific Northwest contingents this is the City of Brotherly Love, so regardless of what you think about Sunday, I want you all to keep it clean.”
One person in the crowd shouted “Go Pats!” in the middle of the president’s comments, and a congressman said, “Bring your own balls!” Obama acknowledged this and everyone had a good laugh.
