In the wake of CNN retracting a story involving the Russia probe and three journalists subsequently resigning from the outlet over the controversy, Fox News has devoted quite a bit of time to the story. In that vein, The Five ran a segment this evening where the hosts took turns hammering the network.
Greg Gutfeld got things started off by stating that CNN tends to create stories to match a narrative for the “purpose of ratings.” Meanwhile, he insisted that Fox News doesn’t do that.
“We fixate on stories at Fox, but it’s not for ratings,” he exclaimed. “It’s because we give a damn. We talked about Benghazi every single day…it’s because we cared.”
It was then time for Kimberly Guilfoyle to weigh in, and she wasn’t about to be outdone by Gutfeld:
“This is a big story developing over the weekend, it has continued through this week. And it should because it matters in terms of journalistic integrity. CNN was chasing ratings at the expense of human collateral damage and individuals they smeared — like Anthony Scaramucci — and also a bloodlust to go after the American president and delegitimize him.”
Dana Perino seemed a bit taken aback by Guilfoyle’s remarks, telling her colleague “I don’t know if I’d go that far.”
